People in scout hogs and ghosts in WZFF

Too many people spawn in ghosts and scout hogs in WZFF and they’re so careless. I’m not saying that everyone shouldn’t spawn in these vehicles I’m just saying that a lot of the time in WZFF, people just barrel through the entire lobby in a ghost, knock our shields down, then we get killed. Who else has this?

İ have that problem. Most of all are getting that vehicles for trolling to other players.Thats not very nice.

It seems that people are not be careful when in vehicles. I know there will be times when it can’t be helped, but I have found that more often than not people are just careless about whom they run over.

I use only vehicles but im extremely careful and if i accedentally kill someone, be it my fault or not, i always send an appology message after the round.

This is what you are supposed to do! keep up the good work Spartan.

Are you also making the effort to stay off the main roads? Out of harm’s way, behind cover? Because in WZFF, vehicles ARE your best bet. especially in the early rounds for crawlers, elites, soldiers & grunts. You have to be going full speed to plow through GROUPS, & if Spartans run into the path of a vehicle, I’m not sure what you expect. Drivers aren’t the only problem. Players thinking that they’re wearing Iron Man’s plot armor in-game are.

The games I get into, the people in vehicles go way off the road onto hills, bases and tunnels which are where I usually am.

When I was a kid (admittedly many years ago) my mother taught me to look both ways before I crossed the street. That’s a fancy way of saying that it takes two to make a splatter. That’s a fancy way of saying that a careless driver is no more careless than a careless pedestrian - and no more culpable just because he survives the encounter.

To be fair, your mother was talking about crossing the street and not playing WZFF… kinda giving a textbook example of false equivalency?

OP IMO 9/10 times driver is to blame for careless splatters within the context of the game, especially if someone is boosting in a ghost, which once again, I doubt recon Z 3 R 0’s mom took into account. But hey, its way the game has been since its been out and doubt we’ll see a change anytime soon. That being said, you can always hope more people play like Nooga and make the effort to show a little courtesy

The splatters in WZFF are in the same category as the betrayals in Griffball. There is a rare occasion where the person killing is trolling. I would say 95% of the time either the driver couldn’t do anything about it or you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some people get butt hurt, while most of us just understand that stuff happens and continue enjoying the game

I’ve played games where players simply don’t care that you were in their way though. They could easily have stopped or gone around you, but instead they went for the splatter kill, because it was the straightest line to the enemy. There should be a bigger penalty for people who get betrayals on teammates like this. If you do it too many times, just like Grifball, it should kick you, too.

Hope that makes people reconsider blindly running over other players because they literally don’t care about them.

Grazing someone and taking down their shield is at least as bad as killing them, because the guy on foot is probably going to get killed anyway. It’s worse in that you can’t boot them for betrayal.

There should be a boot option for bumps or betrayals. Ten percent of the time it’s obviously intentional. The rest is just some thoughtless cretin. Either way, park them in the lobby. It would be great if habitual offenders couldn’t req vehicles for awhile.

Nearly everyone i hit, and even that is rare, is their fault. They will jump down from a ledge while im going full speed in front of me or thruster in front of my path for whatever reason. Stupid stuff like that.

The unfortunate fact is, people who drive vehicles in WZFF need to exercise a lot of caution to avoid splattering their teammates. While it can be annoying when they don’t, I think people being on foot in places where they shouldn’t is actually a much bigger problem. Especially in later rounds, you shouldn’t be on foot anyway, but if you are, it shouldn’t be too hard to stay off the main roads and out of the way of your team’s vehicles. It is annoying to get splattered by careless teammates, but let’s not forget how frustrating it is to have to stop yourself from splattering enemies because some fool is running around battle rifling Warden Eternal.

This is actually a terrible idea. You say it’s 10% intentional 90% thoughtlessness, but from my experience, it seems more like a vanishingly small percent is intentional trolling and the vast majority is people on foot not being careful enough, or just unfortunate enough to run out into the open and a teammate driving a vehicle doesn’t have enough time to react. Yes sometimes people driving vehicles aren’t careful enough, but your idea would be a massive overreaction to that. If there was booting for bumping teammates, you’d see almost everyone who drives vehicles get booted and firefight would get a lot harder to win.

Maybe some self-reflection is called for.

In what sense? Are you saying I’m one of those “thoughtless cretins” who goes around recklessly splattering teammates? Like I said, people in firefight need to be careful when they drive vehicles, and I always am. I even send apology messages when it happens, just like Nooga. I’m not sure what your point is

People who are careless in vehicles should get booted. I stand by that.
If it doesn’t affect you, there’s no reason to get upset about it.

My mom was trying to make a larger point about awareness of your surroundings. I’ve accidentally splattered plenty of people who were target-fixated and straffing across the roadway like mad men, in a way that made it seem as if the right-of-way clearly belonged to them and that they could use it in any way they saw fit and without regard for anyone else’s interests or even basic awareness of the presence of other players. Once again, the only reason we’re assuming (wrongly) that the road belongs to that guy is because he dies and the driver doesn’t. Thankfully it’s a videogame and no one will be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter.

Scout Warthogs, Ghosts, and the splatter mechanic in general are frequently very important to winning a round in firefight. A particular example of this would be that round on Urban where you have too protect the Forerunner Core. At one point during this round, an enormous group of soldiers mass spawns in the little loop in the middle of the map. A well timed Warthog or Ghost can kill them all in a single pass and save a lot of pain for the team.

However

The splatter mechanics are a little interesting sometimes. It seems to be way too easy to splatter teammates. A good solution to this problem would be to significantly reduce (not remove) the damage you deal to teammates when you hit (tap) them with a vehicle.

This thread also brought back the horrible memory of me splattering a Nornfang wielding teammate in regular Warzone after mistaking them for a player on the red team. :frowning:

Not sure why a couple people are saying they should get booted because you actually can get booted if you betray too much. I remember I splattered two people when I was in a Wraith after the game was over, but before the victory appeared and I got booted. The game still counted so I was happy.

I try to be careful, but most of the time it’s someone moving in front of me and I don’t have time to react. On the rare occasion, I simply won’t notice them or they blended in with the enemies when I was plowing through a group and they got ran over. It’s also hard not to bump into people in tight spaces like in the garage or Temple for example.

At the end of the day, I think both sides need to pay attention.
