People getting banned for life?

I’ve come across a few people that have been banned for several lifetimes on the forums and from Arena for what appear to be dumb reasons. “USER HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL 10/29/2552 5:00 PM PST DUE TO MAKING NON-CONSTRUCTIVE POSTS” Why does someone making a Non-Constructive post deserve to be banned for 536 years? I know the player who was banned on the forums and I personally feel it’s ridiculous. Maybe ban them for a few days or a week like normal people would do, not for 536 years.

I also came across someone who was banned from arena for life, because he spawn killed a 343 employee in grifball. These scenarios seem a bit outrageous. If someone buys the game, they should not be banned on their level 100+ account by a salty 343 employee. It sounds like this person was clearly abusing their powers to ban someone because they got spawn killed due to cruddy spawn points. I don’t know if all 343 employees are this strict, but I’ve heard a lot of bad talk about how strict ban policies are. People shouldn’t be scared to be matched with against a 343 employee. Whenever one shows up everyone fears being banned, and that’s not fair.

If I get banned for making this post I will be quite upset and probably never support 343 again. It is of very bad taste to treat players horribly and ban them for several lifetimes. I don’t know the exact circumstances, but 536 years seems to steep of a punishment for making non-constructive posts…

People aren’t outright banned for life. It’s the repeat offenders who ignore their temp suspensions and warnings and continue with their toxic posting that eventually gets permanent banned.

This thread will be locked. Discussion of moderation is prohibited.

They do do this its only the repeat offenders that get the 500 year bans

This is the exact reasons why we don’t go allow the discussion of moderator decisions on the forums, as you never get the full picture. Users who have be given a permanent ban from the forums will have a long history of previous offenses leading up to the point of their final ban. Although I won’t go into specifics about a particular users ban, I am happy to answer any questions you have via PM.

To be absolutely clear, permanent bans aren’t just handed out because we don’t agree with someone, they are handed out because that person broke the rules
