People don't want Halo to change...

People don’t want Halo to change, and they want everything the way it was back before. I saw one guy post that he wants an exact copy of Halo 2 with new maps, guns, and graphics, and he’d be set.

You say all these things, but what makes me raise an eyebrow is that you guys go out of your ways to bash Call of Duty for sticking to the same formula.

As much as I love Call of Duty, this is not what the topic of this thread is about. I’m just shocked that EVERY TIME I come here, I see the following thread titles:

-Lost my faith in 343
-Halo died with Bungie
-Why did they change the grunts
-Why is the DMR back
-Why is bloom back
-This is like CoD
-OFFICIAL Halo 4 boycott thread

and much more.

You guys spend countless of time trying to get 343’s attention and say that you want it like the old games, but you hate Call of Duty for sticking to the same formula, adding new weapons, and new maps. It just doesn’t click.

Another thing that makes me upset with this community at times, is that you assume people are “hardcore players” like you forumers. Not everyone is a forumer who has 400 posts on the message boards, buys every legendary edition, camps out at midnight, and has a limited edition mountain dew bottle. 80% of the people that play games like Halo, CoD, BF, Mass Effect are casuals.About 40% of the people who will buy this game don’t even know it’s coming out yet. Why would companies bend over backwards to benefit a smaller portion of the community?

A recent example is with the ME3 fiasco. 30,000 people signed a ME3 petition to stir up fan response but guess what? ME3 sold SIX MILLION copies. 30,000 people out of 6+ million is about 2% of the community. The vast majority of people have the SLIGHTEST clue about what was going on about the ending controvesry. What does that have to do with Halo? Everything. You guys are the vocal minority. This forum takes up about maybe 1% of the playerbase of the Halo community. Voice your opinion, by all means, but STOP. STOP. STOP acting as if you guys are the majority because you are not.

Thank you.

Thank you for raising a good point, although be prepared for a backlash.

I still struggle to see why people are judging a game on 20 seconds of footage and articles of gameplay mechanics that we haven’t seen in action yet. We could at least wait closer to launch to make judgements.

I wouldn’t say 80% are casuals, I’d say about 80% are fans of the franchise. The majority of “competitive” players are in a small niche that are fans of a specific gametype and playstyle but not fans of the actual franchise.

Halo resides through unimaginative complex additions. Halo is 30seconds of fun repeated. Not 30 seconds of choosing slight of hand pro.

You’re welcome. I struggle to see that too. The game is far from finished, but peopel act as if it’s been out for months.

I wish You would not make statements like that. Seriously.

I’m trying to clean up my act, Maybe you should as well.

Statements like that only cause problems and you know it.

This thread basically describes them haters 100% accurate.

I like this thread, OP had something to say that made sense.

Can you rephrase that in a way I can understand what you are trying to get at?

I’m on the fence. I agree with both of you. I know people who 4v4 scrim on Gears of War 3, who don’t even know anything about the story. They just play Gears for 4v4 “MLG” scrims. However, not everyone is like that.

Lol. I normally keep quiet, but it’s hard too when EVERY time I come here to find decent reads, all I see is hate threads.

People loved Halo 2 so much because it was Raw. Pure FPS with skill at the forefront.

With more additions and fancy flashy gimmicks Halo is getting diluted. Sadly the new age gamer crowd is polluting this industry.

I suggest you watch this, because this is you

It’s a good thing your opened your mouth, and spoke your opinion. People do complain alot and they don’t base it on solid intel… They base it on Early build gameplay and 20 seconds of a First look trailer.

Dude, you were just in a thread rolling your eyes at someone for not buying Halo4 because it has bloom. You really think that every player on a videogame cares about the franchise outside their prefered playlist?

Although I should change out my use of “competitive” because it shows I fell into the simple “Casual versus Competitive” seperations that I keep disagreeing with.

Is that directed to me or the people I’m describing? I closed the video when I saw the title…

You should watch it, it was an accurate prediction of the communities surrounding vidya games. No one likes being beaten so now games have had all the sharp corners sanded down so casuals can rub their faces on them.

I agree with everything you say, except the grunts. I just don’t like the grunts at all. Otherwise a valid thread

Hands down one of the best analogies for what is happening to Halo (or at least what happened to Reach)…jury’s still out on H4, but it ain’t lookin’ good.

Why don’t you have a gamer-tag linked to your profile? That would be an easy way to see if the video is describing you or not.

Correction (and this is coming from someone who criticizes Reach heavily): A niche population of highly skilled gamers don’t want Halo to change. Sure they are very loud and could steak me with their full team but they are a minority nonetheless. Yup, a try hard like myself can admit this.

Having going back and doing some digging, Halo 2 isn’t exactly the “Quake” of Halo like everyone praises, in fact it was the easiest Halos to play (sans Reach). Plus it was the only mainstream shooter that had online at the time. Remember pre patch BR? Remember SMG starts? Hackers with 50s (despite the good ranking system at the time)? Halo2sucks.com? It was only because of the button combos pros and joes alike remember it with rose tinted glasses. Without those…lol

Halo 3 had 1-50 (a flawed but good ranking system if you played with friends and did good), one of the very few games i’ve played that even uses one based on skill. Though we had derankers, the sense elitism (which is wrong by the way), BR spread, inconsistent hit registration and netcode etc.

I say, take what works from the past games, look at what people want in a shooter these days, ditch what doesn’t work in Halo anymore (while looking at Reach on how not to make a Halo game) and apply that to Halo 4.

gives flamesuit you’re gonna need this OP.
