oh no poor 343 they had a pandemic so it’s okay the game is released in a crappy state for the third time they’ve done a Halo game! just lol. everyone has had to deal w/ the pandemic, 343 isn’t special. plenty have other games have been developed w/in the past 4-6 years and released during the pandemic just fine. and those games that were supposed to release got delayed because they care more than -Yoink!- and 343. what a joke.
Oh they remember it. They just don’t care.
They called it “tough love.” What a joke.
Aight you got me I don’t remember 5 played through it once and barely touched multiplayer. But, if Infinite had even half of what you just said 5 had at launch I wouldn’t be nearly as annoyed
If you believe the very plausible information about the battle pass being 120 levels and full of all the Reach armor, then some of the decisions about progression seemed to have happened close to launch. Honestly, if true I think that makes them worse.
I dont think we can actually compare old games to new games. New games are imho more complex in all aspects. The final gameplay can be similar, but the tech and the road to put it together is imho way more complicated today.
That wasn’t even the only thing. I heard the Slipspace Engine itself took years to make, a large chunk of those 6 years
6 years. Some companies have released multiple games in this time frame lol So tired of the c19 excuse.
but this is imho a bit different problem.
And this problem is our modern society and families.
Let me ask you. How come that 10 y old kid gets a purchase out of parents credit card on a game which is out of childs age?
I know you mean good to fight the greedy macrotransactions, but I am afraid that unless the sales are low we are only fighting windmills…
Just my personal opinion on this, but I’m beginning to feel like we’ve been in a 9 year beta test as soon as 343 launched H4. Each iteration of their game seems like a right-angle turn from the predecessor.
The pandemic affected a lot of companies in different ways. But the issues we’ve seen with the 343 Halo releases seem (to me) to be a product management problem more than anything.
But that’s what I’m trying to get at. Purchase sales won’t be low. Lets all boycott the store and see how quickly things change. I guarantee you we see no change in how they handle this situation. Because of the social issues surrounding these predatory macrotransactions, there will never be a point in which conscerned consumers have a way to effect the market, since a majority of their revinue is coming from a minority of their consumers, the minority that doesn’t care if the macrotransactions are predatory or not.
The pandemic is too convinent of an excuse.
You can excuse it for time, but how does any disease excuse the choices one can make?
Did the pandemic result in the disaster of BF2042 when they could have also chosen to delay it?
Did the pandemic result in the poor design choices of Cyberpunk when they could have been more open?
I mean, Nintendo still had to contend with the pandemic too, but they still released Metroid Dread and the final batch of Smash Bros DLC, but they were just fantastic and fine. And they are overseas!
The pandemic is not even an excuse, its just, pitiful, you can always say time and stuff but at no point, does this excuse bad choices.
In fact, please how does a pandemic delay any digital distribution? Didn’t most companies regardless of industry just leap up on that?
The choices made still lead to these results, actions have consequences, excuses are like butts, everyone has them, and they sure do stink.
I understand how the industry works based on my own experience but things can change and 343i refused to delay the project any further and they mislead gamers.
I understand that things happen in the industry and things can be harder to change the later the game get’s into production but we don’t all just blunder through the designs without making major changes and quite often enough many end up making game designs end up being nothing like what was originally planned.
For them to go from claiming content being just as amazing as Reach to barely minimum in a matter of months is a bit ridiculous. Also what makes even less sense is there making excuses about why many features won’t be at launch and they release a beta then choose to rush out a release straight after a beta is supposed to end.
This is the worst take I’ve read in these forums. Work and deadlines continue to be a thing. It’s a horrible excuse you’re making for them and they don’t deserve it. What’s the excuse for Halo 4/5/MCC, no pandemic then was there? The pure, unadulterated truth is that 243 dropped the ball and are now screaming victim over being called out.
Really? That’s your take? They probably had a lot of the MCC content planned out already.
I’ve heard this one before.
