Just by saying that right away one assumes it must be a game with content, with gameplay, with skin, without errors that think of its users from 200k to 7k, halo step since its launch, a game that achieved a furor that equaled the top games a world level as it is possible that they are spoiling it by the mediocrity of 343 and its work plan so poorly prepared without taking into account the user, The beta halo infinity in series S and X at 120 fps had to be a standard they did the crossplay to call the public they did it but at what cost would they have standardized the game at 120 that avoided the error with ghosting if they want a game for only pros . Do not leave new players, do what they did, have a pro have a pc at 240 with all the toys and make it an exclusive game for them, why spend so much energy, time and money on multiplayer if in the end they are interested in a minority where only one map for multiplayer 4 that exist where only one is symmetric, They want the game to last 10 perfect years, but as they are doing, it will not last more than 2 years. The community in Spanish is not Tenida finds something that is wrong since in only the community in Spanish is the first and those who also consume video games, I still don’t understand why paying attention to minorities didn’t see the serious mistake they had in halo 5 they don’t learn, they don’t learn from Bungie the good things he did that they keep making games where one always has to say halo3 the multiplayer was better than that or halo reach where people had fun to win not for who kills more in a game with their ranking systems, They don’t learn from companies like riot games. There is nothing wrong with retro feeding

Not to be nit picky…

The problem is, almost none of the customization options are available to players who don’t pay for microtransactions. I grinded the game for ~15 hours when it first came out and I still only have the default armor and a couple coatings & visors. I stopped just before the first Tenrai event started (I wasn’t interested at all in the Yoroi core). You can’t really customize your Spartan or progress at all unless you pay up. That’s why I’m hoping season 2 has way, way more free customization items and not just challenge swaps in the free pass.

And how much money do you need to spend though the

A lot of the customisation is pointless though. And or behind a paywall.

Think everyone’s bored of seeing one shade of colour as an option, then seeing an absolutely identical one parading around as new unlockable.

The cores might have been interesting on paper but it just stifles customisation even more.

While Infinite does have a decent amount of customization it feels like a lot less than past titles because of the core system, battle pass and store locking options. Ascend Hyperion made a great video on this topic which I suggest everyone watch. He much like you does the math and gives the comparisons.

With the core system being as it is now, it bottlenecks the selections which I’m unsure if you took that into account. It limits you to a set of options in a group meaning people tend to look the same. Also colors shouldn’t really be considered, but because that too is limited and controlled by 343i it results in even more limitations. However colors do matter because it represents your individual spartan. Sure in past titles this hasn’t matter all the time, but it did matter a lot in Reach. It would appear that you’ve forgotten one of the most amazing parts of Reach. Your spartan is your spartan in the multiplayer and campaign. In team based games yeah you’re set to a team color, but in Infection, Firefight, and FFA you are the colors you’ve chosen. Halo 4 continued this with Spartan Ops and Halo 5 once they included Warzone Firefight.

Another thing to consider is the content available for free. Free players have next to nothing, even if you paid for the $60 campaign. It’s basically pay or starve.

I feel as though these are the reasons people are upset and unhappy with the customization in Infinite. I can only hope that in the future 343i does better, but I’m not really willing to have faith in 343i at this point. They have already stated that they’re looking into opening cross core, but only for helmets and coatings which doesn’t fill me with confidence.

I have done a similar but a more thorough investigation in regards to the number of armor customization combinations across the different Halo game if we exclude from the Armor Emblems in Halo Infinite and and any other emblems in the other Halo games. I have separated the number of customization combinations in two main categories of geometrically distinct combinations where all of the coloring options are excluded (including visor color and helmet variants with a different visor color) and customization combinations where the coloring options are included. I have done this for all of the Halo games in MCC, Halo 5 Guardians, Halo Infinite in terms of free content, free content + BP+ & Campaign and a final category with the total (including content sold from the store or any external store). Please note that there may exist some mistakes in this list and some items may not be combined with other items or are currently unobtainable or it’s unknown how these items are obtained.

Game Geometry Total
MCC: Halo 3 [Spartan + Elite] 217,905,871,104 1,788,560,532,983,810,000
Halo Infinite (Total) 11,012,990,976 664,269,034,291,200
MCC: Halo 4 797,509,648 6,015,346,082,190,900
Halo Infinite (incl. BP+ & Campaign) 250,584,192 301,451,155,200
MCC: Halo: Reach [Spartan + Elite] 237,758,984 8,024,365,490,400
Halo Infinite (Free Content) 1,383,552 977,477,760
Halo 5: Guardians 18,564 24,929,856,000
MCC: Halo 2A 4,177 3,512,857
MCC: Halo 3: ODST 16 14,400
MCC: Halo 2 [Spartan + Elite] 2 648
MCC: Halo: CE 1 558

Based on this list, Halo Infinite has a relatively large amount of customization combinations. There exist nearly 1 billion free combinations where colorings are included and 1 million geometrically distinct combinations that are free. The main thing that limits the possibility to customize the spartan in Halo Infinite is the player do only have 1 independent coloring option in comparison to Halo 3 which has 3 with 30 colors each, Halo Reach that has 2 with 30 colors each or Halo 5 that has 2 with 60 colors each. In addition to this, the fact that customization is restricted to specific armor core do also greatly limit the number combinations in Halo Infinite and the totalt number of combinations are instead and indicator of the total number of combinations for the armor core with most customization combinations.

The problem isn’t that it doesn’t have customization. The problem is the customization is behind a paywall and then on top of that certain colors and armor pieces are restricted to certain cores which means the customization is limited.

You’re also comparing it to 6 months after release instead of what the game launched with and if you compare it to the other games it didn’t have any customization.

Even if the amount of free content is relatively small, you can still get a fairly large amount of customization content if you purchase the premium battle pass (especially the bundle in the long term). At the current state of the game, Halo Infinite has around the same amount of geometrically distinct customization combinations with a premium battle pass as Halo Reach (MCC) or around double the amount of combinations as in the original Xbox 360 version of Halo Reach*.

On the other hand, it will be truly interesting to see how the numbers change in Season 2.

Sure doesn’t feel like it has the most customization. It feels extremely restrictive. Reach feels much more free since you can mix and match everything without having to worry about which pieces are for which core.

shop or not some of these are still paid.

Event Pass- free, but you may be required to play a gametype you do not enjoy
Campaign- paid
Xbox Games Pass Ultimate Rewards- you’ve paid for the service, but it’s still just green and black for a few things.
Promo Codes- once again paid for content
Twitch- free, but does require a time investment (this one depends on personal views)
Battlepass- like 3 helmets and only a few other pieces.

These are all so little in content and mostly required money in some way.

What did you expect from a company that wants to make money?
They made the game free-to-play to maximize the amount of potential players and the having a projected high population means you have more people who would likely be willing to buy the content in the shop.

looks at current population
Don’t think that’s turned out how they meant for it to bub.

Indeed.

Intention : High population with many schmucks to siphon money from

Execution : Fans, both classic and new, are disappointed and have hardly any interest in the game. We are losing money once again gentlemen.

Reach is a ten plus year old game. It’s not a fair comparison.

You have to pay for a fair amount of those combinations. Easily more than Halo Reach at retail all those years back.

Halo 5 had more armour at launch. Plus, a lot of those combinations are really duplicates of the same armour with minor changes such as knees and gloves. Plus it’s a 6 year old game and was not technically live service. But you had far more individual armour cores.

5 only had armor sets so the only things for how your spartan looked was the armor set, visor and helmet. That was so bad.

Yes but I think people assumed they would simply parcel out the same number of armour sets and let you recombine them.

Not put out two armour sets with a few alternate shoulders and knees.

Also I told people back then that if they split the armour sets up they’d just use that as an excuse to charge more money. Which they did. Selling you a shoulder pad and an emblem. :pensive:
