Firefight and campaign aren’t player customization options.

What should be included is player model choices, emblems, voices, effects, maybe clan tags, etc.

I didn’t say nor suggest they weren’t, in fact I specifically referenced voices.

Campaign and firefight specifically aren’t player customization, it’s playable content.

I think people are complaining about the fact that most of the cosmetics are locked behind a fortnite style paywall. So when they say “no customization” they really mean “I refuse to pay money so I have almost nothing”.
Which is understandable, yet foolish given that all cosmetics in videogames since 2015 tend to be monetized.

  • Halo 5’s REQ pack system
  • Rainbow Six Siege’s cosmetic system is heavily stacked to require money to earn cosmetics, or 30 matches of grinding to get something good from the shops.
  • Call of Duty has been doing DLC Cosmetics since Modern Warfare 2 and CoD Packs since 2013.

There are cosmetics that can be unlocked through regular gameplay, but they are so few that players are annoyed and saying that there are no cosmetics. When in reality Halo Infinite has the most diverse cosmetic scheme to date.

It is a shame with the armor coatings tho and emblems still being color preset tho.

You are absolutely correct. Though I wonder how many of those combinations exist/add up properly when non premium items are considered. With premium yeah it’s totally nuts but if you don’t buy anything you’re more limited than Reach.

Like the UI shows that color hexagon thing. Maybe if they let us change the 6/7 of those slices?

What a load of nonsense. It’s very restrictive and blocks quite a lot of content behind a 2nd paywall and has barely any content to unlock. This is just ridiculous. If it has much content as you claim then this game would be doing better.

We done the math bruv, its how all the good customization is locked behind paywalls, and arbetrary limitations. I shouldnt have to pay twice for black.

I don’t see it happening, but if they gave us an RGB slider or even just let us pick from a pallete of 20-30 for even a couple of the key colors for each coating, 90%+ of everyone’s problem with coatings would just disappear.

If I could fine-tune and select the independent colors for the camoflage coatings, I’d personally have a nearly impossible time holding off from buying them whenever a new one became available in the store.

Yeah, it’s not happening, but like you said, some preset pallets would be nice.

Doesn’t matter how many items of customisation you have if you can’t use 80% the way you want to use them. This post is stupid, proves that the customisation is awful, and that the people defending it are part of the problem.

I think it really depends on the individual in the end.

I personally don’t often change my look, so obtaining what I want means more than how much I have to choose from.

Halo 4 and Halo 5 have better customization than Halo Infinite.

In Halo Infinite can I make an ODST suit with black and red paint, can I make it with black and blue paint? No.
Where if you allow me is in Halo MCC.

Halo 4’s was nearly identical to Reach’s in terms of mechanics, with Reach’s system being most fondly remembered it seems.

Halo 5 however was heavily panned for reducing the customization, and only got marginally better towards the end of support with the inclusion of more colors and expanded emblem customization.

If we’re going purely off of mechanics, Halo 4 is the clear victor.

But we also have to remember acquisition too:

  • Halo 4’s grindy specialist system
  • Halo 4’s DLC armor ($10 + $2.99)
  • Halo 5’s Req system

Infinite has definite issues with acquisition of customizable content, but in terms of customization mechanics I personally think it’s better or at least structured better than Halo 4/Reach even factoring in the removal of the color palette and custom emblems, and leagues better than Halo 5.
