People complain Infinite has "No Customization" - So I did the MATH

Hmm yeah ok.
These numbers should focus on what free to players get, with the vanilla “out of the box” game. Then compare it to Reach.

Your post is completely irrelevant and misleading,

Based on the ground that more than 95% of all cosmetics are Locked behind way over priced microtransactions.

Halo Reaches Total Cost:
maybe around 100$'s if you bought all DLC.
$60 Base game, gives you access to all cosmetics in the game + acted as a progression system to earn things.

Halo Infinites Total Cost:
$1200ish, but the worst estimates I’ve seen, and will only become more expensive over time and additional store content.

How about you do the math for all these “combinations” when you only shell out the cost for Halo Reach?
Meaning you can only spend 60$s on the store.
How many combinations will you ACTAULLY have for that price?

Spend $10s for the Battle Pass?
$50’s left for the shop,
Hell, lets even assume you’ve been playing since Launch and have completed ALL Events.

You will come NOWHERE near the customization Options of Reach,
Only for the Cost of the Base game.

Cool maths, now do it with only free armour

As an aside - I’ve been far more interested in dressing up in Infinite than I ever did from CE through H5.

In H5 I had the same colours for 5 years. I changed my armour and helmet 2-3 times as I earned new ones - but was beastly careless. Although I really did like my “Ant Man” helmet.

In Infinite I already have 3 coatings I really like… and another 3 or 4 I would be happy to wear. I agree that being able to choose the colours for each coating would be excellent - but if I can’t then I really do prefer the coatings I have to going back to primary and secondary palettes.

As for the armour - I’ve had fun experimenting a bit more. Found a couple of combinations I like. Nothing I would stick to permanently - but it’s been fun. The cat’s ears (don’t judge) rock with the otherwise super ugly storm breaker? helmet.

So, obviously take this with a grain of salt because I am far from a dress up aficionado but I’ve enjoyed Infinite’s take on it. It may take a few seasons before I have the options for a look I want to stick with… but that’s ok. I’m assuming that within a year or so I will have pretty much everything I need to rock my Spartan.

Reach cost $30? I cant even remember, how much customisation do you get for that? Oh yeah f all.

You are limited by cores, you also have to buy most of the armor or go to other sources for a promo.

Also if you remove all the coatings and visors you wont get near as much, sure reach you had a few visor colours but in infinite each core has the same colour and very similar colours.

A better comparison would be 5 to infinite, and infinite would be left in the dust if you include the core limitations alone. And then in 5 you could earn it al unlike infinite.

Halo Infinite doesn’t have any customization. There’s really nothing to it.

It’s just severely lacking.

It does have a lot of customization the whole armor coating thing is still stupid I would like to make every single piece of my armor in different color at least in Halo Reach you could see your custom Spartan in the campaign I don’t know who thought the armor coating was a good idea but if I made the game I would completely get rid of that system it should have never been a thing

If a Cat ears got 20 kills in a match would you still call them a noob?

I did something similar a long while back comparing Halo 5 with Infinite when someone suggested there’s more customization in H5G (and I know I did one with Reach but I can’t seem to find it) and got wildly different numbers than what you did, but I factored in some other customization aspects as well like the body customization, AI customization, emblems, etc.

There’s also the factor that not all items show up in the armory including promo items. I know for a fact I can’t see Firefall despite that it’s been featured multiple times. Also factor in that some items only have a set number of choices, and some that have no choice for customization at all (Rockstar Gravity Hammer emblem only has one palette choice).

Looking back at my numbers I have some areas where it’s definitely off and needs updating. But it would be interesting to get the full force of the total customization aspects where possible.

Post for reference.

About a year after launch maybe. Not counting DLC cost of course.

$60 if you were cool and needed to play it first.

Since when was customization free in Halo Reach? Last I heard, the entirety of that game’s content cost $60 to access. Not saying I disagree with your point, but saying it’s free is 100% wrong and should stop being said

Big note should be all the free stuff mentioned I didn’t factor in.

100%. Removing the freedom of color choice was the real issue. I actually really dig a lot of the coatings texture/pattern wise. If they could be applied on a per piece basis, or even better, were color-codable how you’re suggesting, they’d be much better than they are today.

Also before you make the you’re not a og fan i’ve been playing halo since 2

Oof the post before listing everything silly in the og games isn’t posted yet

Then why are you not livid on what has happened to halo

I’m annoyed with the lack of content

Cat ears should be the least of your concerns

heck i despise many things in infinite

the armor cores system with how restritctive it is

The removal of customizable emblems and colors

No playable elites again

The whole challenge system being the only way to progress

No infection or forge at launch again

The way the body types are barely noticeable in the customization

The way the oddball and flag doesn’t do a one hit melee anymore

The lack of player collision and how you phase through enemies

The dysync and the way the game picks the servers

The lack of flood

The removal of fun campaign glitches

No rewards for completing the campaign on heroic or legendary difficultly

The lack of party up and lobby chat

The 6 month seasons

You know what doesn’t annoy me silly little things like cat ears

Because silly stuff has been with the series since the bungie days

The whole direction the game took is mind boggling

This was a legenardy franchise and its gone so far from the core sandbox that makes halo fun
