So, I’m already noticing a lot of my friends on Xbox refusing to play with M&K players, and refusing to play in fireteams of more than 2 just so they get locked inputs and only get matched with other controller players.
The game is pretty clearly unbalanced between the inputs, as it was always going to be because all games are. The current system of basing it on party size is heavily flawed. Especially since it only takes three or more players for the game to force mixed input MM. The option to opt-in to input based MM is necessary. Or at the very least it should be applied to Quickplay the way it is to Ranked. As in Ranked you only get mixed inputs of you have both M&K and Controller users in your fireteams regardless of size.
Not sure if I’ve misunderstood, but honestly, I’d prefer it remain opt out for social playlists specifically to prioritize maintaining healthy total population into the future. If the opt out functionality isn’t working as expected for you though, then I definitely support making improvements to that. No one should have to feel their choices don’t matter.
I couldn’t agree more about input related match making for not only ranked but also quick matches. I’m happy to play against pc players But only if we share a common input method. I have the option to natively plug in a keyboard and mouse but I don’t feel I should be even considering it to remain competitive.
Never had issues about this when it was always a controller without cross platform, I really hope 343 listen and give us the options.
Players want this choice. I want it , and I know all of my friends want it too.
Today’s games were pretty good however I couldn’t help but feel like some players were Checking the players who dominated the matches their profiles all read PC, and
I hope that the input method is locked this needs to be prioritized for social quick play too not only ranked. I’m happy to wait a longer time to find a lobby which is more balanced and everyone is on the same playing field, Then to get thrown into the fray of Mouse and keyboard against my own and my friends will.
Not sure if I’m understanding if u mean they should keep crossplay or not in socials but if u mean they should then they shouldn’t. They need to make the crossplay optional in 4v4 socials and btb if they don’t they won’t be keeping a healthy total population the numbers will drop bc controllers don’t want to be playing uneven matches all the time.
I don’t touch the btb and 4v4 socials anymore bc when I did I went negative against mnk and when I switched to rank I was going positive against controllers and I don’t want to keep playing ranked for balanced matches for infinite I want to play the btb and 4v4 socials but not get stomped on by mnk.
The only matches I won were in ranked, I haven’t won a game in btb and 4v4 socials. This has to be fixed
I think M&K has some type of distinct advantage, when i played all the social matched I regularly got crushed. I tried playing a little ranked with locked input - controller v controller and was like, “oh so I’m actually not trash, Cross play might be tho”.
I placed in ranked solo/duo (controller) and also played 5 games of ranked mixed input and noticed no discernible difference between the two playlists.
If anything, us controller users have a distinct advantage in ranked due to the aim assist on the BR and longer TTK. That’s why you see all of the current Halo pros using controller.
A little off topic, but do we know if this is still the case? This was rather specific to MCC, and 343 made active changes to how aiming works across the board in Infinite. I exclusively play m&k, so I wouldn’t really know how controller feels between the games right now.
i’ve been solo queuing M&K and can tell quite blatantly that most of my team mates and enemies are on controller because they cant turn fast enough, absolute death sentence when im driving a hog… feels like i might as well get out and shoot people myself or just go for splatters cause they dont kill or target swap fast enough on the turret
running circles around people and getting free assassinations doesnt feel too rewarding either
What we know specifically, is that ranked will only mix inputs if your fireteams has mixed inputs, which is good.
Quick Play and BTB will only mix inputs if you have more than two players in your fireteams when you are matchmaking. Which I don’t think should be the case, it should work like Ranked.
It’s mainly Quickplay that’s an issue as it punishes you for playing with more than two friends. But even for BTB the cut off point should be having more than 4 players in your fireteams, not just two.
I play controller on PC and have had no major issues going positive or sometimes reaching top 3 on the leaderboards. Controllers do need a slight buff to aim assist but I find it livable
It is all harder in Infinite than past games but the BR is the easiest weapon in the lot. So while it is in general more balanced across inputs, the “skillful” ranked weapon has the most aim assist out of the whole sandbox (except for maybe the AR).
Iam controller noob, but the way aim assist works in my eyes the aim assisnt is very poor especially when you face MK player. I was playing a lot on controller recently - also other games so my aim is a bit rusty now on MK, but I will do like 10x better on MK than controller.
MCC felt like very natural to play with controller, but Infinite I gave up after 3 matches and went for MK.
But I want to play on controller since I am awaiting delivery of 117 controller
It’s quite funny because this is the opposite on Halo MCC (not that I have an issue with it as I’m competitive and stand a good chance against the strength of aim-assist in that game with MnK).
Now, how the tables have flipped and turned cause I’m absolutely curbing alot of controller players and I can confidently say they’re oppressed and need more magnetism.
It’s almost not even a challenge getting 30 kill bombs in BTB or even going insanely positive. I can admit that they need more aim assist.
I’ve never come across a good argument for mixing the different inputs. Controllers rely on aim assist to function well; something that is inherently an uncompetitive function on PC. Basically, take away AA and it’s not fair for controllers; put it in and it’s not fair for kb/m
You pay the price for using KBM for more freedom of movement and raw input, if any KBM player were to whine about aim-assist being too strong.
(when it probably likely won’t if they can find middle-ground on the right amount of reticle-magnetism)
it’s just something they will have to deal with or get better to compete with controller and even then, there’s not much competition if you’re semi-decent with a mouse.
Personally, as a competitive KBM player, the game has been a cake-walk in terms of getting high-kills and it feels unfair to the players I’m versing against.
I hope 343 increase aim-assist so they can prove a better chance in matchmaking.
It’s either aim assist is bad or it’s the new wave of players dipping their toes into the game. Or it could really be both. Time will tell in the next months when players improve.
I couldnt agree more.
Even in social playlists a cross-input opt should be introduced as soon as possible.
Its clearly way too unbalanced and I think its shows some kind of disrepect to the console player base that build this franchise on Xbox. Not to mention a restricted option to region-lock the matchmaking, avoiding to play with more than 120 ms ping on american servers. (European player here). Halo 5 at launch had these kind of options and I dont think Halo Infinite being completely free to play would suffer in terms of playlist being unpopulated.
