People are AFK in EVERY game!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I’m not sure if this is where I complain, but if not, someone please give me the correct link or email. Since Halo Multi-player gaming has harsher punishments for quitting multiplayer games in Reach (temporary multiplayer ban) , people are AFK in games all the time. It’s ridiculous, I’ve actually played games where all 3 of my partners (4v4 Slayer) were AFK. I know people hate when someone quits the game, hence the punishments, but I would much rather have my partner quit the game then go AFK the entire game! So not only is he not helping, he is giving them free kills constantly. If people were AFK just once in awhile during the game, or only for a minute or two, it wouldn’t be such a big deal… but I’m talking about all the time, and AFK the entire game. It’s frustrating to have your partners 1 or 2 and even occasionally 3, standing in a corner waiting patiently for some skill-less noob to be given the gift of a double or triple kill. Since they don’t want to be punished by quitting, they just go do something else and leave their stupid character to sit there and be killed over and over again by overly excited free kill specialist. There’s no reason for the enemy to fight you, when they can kill your afk dumb@$$ partners 50 times and they don’t fight back. Obviously they don’t care too much about their ratings because they’re going to lose that the game, they just don’t want the temporary multiplayer ban from quitting games.

Just let the idiots quit, don’t make them stay in the game. It’s much worse to have an AFK partner, than one who quits. At least if they quit you have the advantage of having more targets, and still have the possibility to win. When they’re partying AFK the entire game your chances of winning are 0 to none.

Sorry, it’s just very irritating. >:(

dude, i could not agree any stonger! sometimes i just try to push them to a safer place. just quit!!! if you get banned its only for like ten minutes. oh no if you get banned theres a chance you may have top communicate with another human being.

Yes, welcome to the Multiplayer forums. Home Of Complains. even when there is a Halo Feedback Thread on General Discussion. Don’t take it as a offense.

On topic.
I thought that AFK in All the MM were banned from XBL if they… Well, AFK-ing.
Reporting is actually a good way to make Microsoft their eye on them.

In my opinion the solutions are two. Making them Auto Quit if they stand still a lot of time and then punishing them so they regret it; or, creating a quickmatch playlist?

It’s a big problem we know, Best advice play a more competitive based playlist untill somthing is done, Try MLG.

Well i guess my question is if the “banhammer” was transferred to 343 from bungie or if bungie made them get their own? This would explain why they’re not getting banned for it, i see people afking in fire fight all the time and i’ll be honest, i was reset for that so i hope they still plan on making people pay for there arrogance like i did.

I think creating a quickmatch playlists is a great idea. Let people choose which maps they want to play, like in Starcraft 2, and then maybe they won’t quit or go AFK as much. Hopefully.

just kick someone whos afk for 3 minutes out 343…please. its not hard.

Leave feedback on the individual(s). That’s why the feedback system exists. If more people used it, it would help with matching up people with those who don’t do stupid stuff like AFK.

Which “avoid player” should you use? I recommend the unsporting conduct reference myself. Most of the others don’t seem to fit, but AFK player are shafting the hell out of their teammates by giving away free kills and not contributing to the team victory. That seems pretty unsporting.

That said, I also recommend preferring players too. I have tried to consistently prefer or avoid players as needed. What I’ve found is I tend to get rematched later with players I have actually preferred. Maybe once or twice have I run across a rematch where I have already avoided the player. So that the prefer avoid mechanism DOES seem to operate.

Plus, if a person is AFK you can report them for cheating as they are using an in-game exploit to influence the outcome of a game.

I personally HATE AFKers as much as anyone. In FF, I always make sure to grab a spare FRC and blast them out of hiding and into traffic so the Covies will kill them repeatedly. Sure it means fewer kills for me, but I get sick of people ‘using’ my hard work so they can advance their Perfectionist commendation as well as their rank. So I make them pay. Then after the game, negative feedback on their profile AND I file a complaint to XBL about them. If more people would take 30-seconds to post a negative comment and an additional 30-seconds to file a complaint, we’d be rid of these losers.

I don’t face many in MM - but when I do they are worse than the AFKers in Firefight because they actually cost us wins most times as they become easy targets for the opposition. I’d much rather see them quit if they need to use the little boys’ room, take out the trash or whatever their excuse is. I’ve suffered a quit ban before due to my 3-year old having nightmares, due to power ‘brown outs’ and messed-up wiring in the place we rent. Is it a pain? Sure. But it’s only 10-minutes! Life happens - most people understand that. But being AFK has NO EXCUSES!

The feedback system doesn’t work 100% of the time. It’s a time drain to dig through menus also.

The real solution should come from monitoring gameplay at the developer/server level. A player idling for more than 90 seconds could be auto-booted. Don’t know why 343 doesn’t do a solution that actually would work 100% of the time.

Are you sure that AFK violates the Xbox Live Code of Conduct? That is what filing a complaint is for. You could get in trouble with Microsoft if you’re filing a bunch of complaints that aren’t covered. I always thought File Complaint was about glitching, modding, or hate speech.

That’s how I see it. It should auto-boot anyone idle for 90 seconds. That’s perfect. That would solve the problem completely. Trying to report every person that goes AFK, I’d literally be reporting like 20 people a night, and spend time trying to find where to report them, and which report I should use. I don’t think it’s my job to babysit all the stupid Halo players. Boot them, ban them, whatever just get them out of my games.
