Penalty for quitting.

There seriously needs to be one. with the addition of the doubles playlist, 1 person quitting now makes it excessively hard to play through a game while you’re constantly getting teamshot. It’s no fun at all from both a competitive standpoint and a casual standpoint.

I’m hoping this is addressed in the TU, or there will be a lot of pissed off people when ranks come along (as if it isn’t -Yoink!- people off already).

Any ideas for 343i that could address this issue?

Discuss.

So i should be penalized for quitting when I get put on a losing team with 30 seconds left, or the team thats down 800/450, or the crap host from another country teleporting all over the place in griffball. No thanks!

just stop moaning… doubles sucks

They get 60 minutes to try out and quit other developer’s games.

There is already a penalty for quitting a bunch. The get a 1 hour ban.

Problem is, it is too lenient so it doesn’t really get implemented as much as it should.

And yes, you should be penalized for quitting a match that has 30 seconds left or is down 800-450. Just stick it out, no need to be a jerk about it.

That kind of thing rarely happens to me, but if it does, it’s not a big deal. It takes longer to quit out, search for a new game and join than it does to sit through the 30 seconds of a match.

As long as losses matter, people will quit. Some people will have you believe that they always win. Best way to manipulate the W/L stat is to quit.

One way to fix that for doubles is to play with a friend. He/she shouldn’t quit out on you.

that’s for quitting a bunch, but There is no immediate penalty. You don’t lose experience, you don’t get a handicap next game, you don’t have any incentive not to quit.

I understand that this game isn’t competitive and that there is no reason to play and nothing to aim for, but you shouldn’t just be able to quit without having some sort of penalty at all.

I’m holding back the biggest rant right now.

> One way to fix that for doubles is to play with a friend. He/she shouldn’t quit out on you.

YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS JUST TO HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE IN MATCHMAKING.

God -Yoinking!- damn it. I’m so tired of this being everyones solution to matchmaking. So fed up with that.

So if my friends aren’t online I can’t play? Great logic. Just awesome.

Shouldn’t the gameplay be enjoyable one way or another, alone or in a group? Wouldn’t that be a novel idea for a game?

Good god, it’s pathetic.

Whoa, calm down there tiger.

yes, yes you should! winning isn’t everything… don’t puss y out just because you’re going to lose.

Sorry, sorry. Kinda lost it for a second there.

But really, I should be able to go into MM alone with the peace of mind that I’m going to have a team that wants to win, not one filled with players that could quit out at any moment knowing they will suffer no consequences.

I hear you, bro, but the sad truth is that there is no penalty that will stop quitting. A quit ban is like that lock on your front door. I keeps the honest people out, but for burglars it’s just a minor annoyance.

There are many legitimate reasons for quitting that have to do with circumstances beyond your control but, let’s face it, the vast majority do it to avoid getting a loss on their record. Apparently it’s OK to quit 8 out of 10 games if you have a high positive W/L ratio.

Perhaps if quitting was a major factor in this new CSR thing that’s coming out…

That’s what I’m saying.

If the CSR really does work similarly to H3’s CSR ranking system, I’ll be happy.

HOWEVER.

If it doesn’t go off of simply W/L, and there’s other factors added in that negate finishing the game, There will be serious issues.

When I am playing a game and we are tied and it Black Screens and we come back and they are up by 10. When this happens more than once a game I will quit it.

> When I am playing a game and we are tied and it Black Screens and we come back and they are up by 10. When this happens more than once a game I will quit it.

Sounds like a connection issue to me, and if that’s the case you should fix your connection instead of ensuring a loss for the team you were on.

Btw, just a question, would your thinking still be the same if the upcoming CSR was affected by your quitting with negative results?

lol you had me rolling, such a valid point, but i do agree, it shouldnt be as bad as halo reaches penalty (where yourd leave like 5 games and get banned for a week, but it should be made if u leave 10 matches in a day then be banned for a few hours… MAYBE

Doubles and throwdown need to remove JIP and that’s it.

I’m not against punishment for quitting when you take a loss, lose a CSR rank, etc, but things like quit bans are a joke.

A CSR drop is all I would be asking for. A quit ban is overkill. Sometimes you just gotta go and can’t finish a game, I understand that. But quitting out of a game just because you don’t have the balls to finish it no matter the circumstance is pathetic.

I seriously agree with the prior statement of playing with friends. It solves so many problems. I don’t understand the problem with quitters…I mean what difference does it make? There is join in progress so you can get a new team mate. Besides if I’m playing dubz and my team mate is awful I’d welcome him to quit. Also the reach mechanic of banning quitters was the dumbest thing ever; losing connection counted as quitting. However, I would like to see that your CSR decreased a little when you quit as this is fundamentally essential to the premise of skill. That’s as far as I’d go for quitters in addition to what’s already in play. If anything you’ll just encourage people to go afk which, in my opinion, is the absolute worse thing ever.
