Hey guys, first forum post ever, so bear with me as I try to express myself clearly and succinctly.
I was recently grinding out some Team Doubles champion ranks (I got down to 107) with a friend. We had played roughly 4 games against the same onyx players at this stage and on the fifth time versing them, when the game started, my friend took two steps forward and lagged out, making it a 1 v 2. Now, they were very good onyx players and had started to t-bag after their 5/6th kill to rile me up. Recognising that I wasn’t going to win the match (and that it wasn’t worth getting mad over), as they had all power weapons and positions, I decided to leave early to get back to playing with my mate asap (obviously I recognised what was going to happen to my rank, but it was inevitable).
However, that didn’t stop the sting of ranking down from Champion 107 to 123.
In my mind, if your teammate quits, or lags out, or leaves for whatever reason, you shouldn’t be penalised with loss of rank (obviously the opposing team should still rank up as they would with a normal win to make the match worth their while). It just makes it a highly punishing experience for those left in the game - stay and get pummelled for 12 minutes/25-50 kills, or quit and face a ban, but still lose rank regardless of either choice.
