Hey, everyone. I was wondering, since I’m not an online Campaign player in Reach, do you need to play online to hit the switch on the mission “New Alexandria” for the Pelican, or can you do it locally? The reason I’m asking is because I had some trouble with a friend trying to fly a Pelican on local play, and couldn’t find the switch. We checked and double checked our sources (Rooster Teeth’s Achievement Hunter “How to fly a Pelican and Phantom”), and reloaded the game, but still couldn’t find the switch. Are there certain criteria, for example, would you have to complete everything else first? Been really frustrated lately trying to find that damn switch. Help, please!
It can be done alone, either case all jammers must be down.
The troopers can use the concussion turret on the Phantom if you attempt this yourself.

To activate the easter egg, you need to complete the main objectives first: Destroy all 3 jammers. Once they’re all down and the ONI tower comes under fire, a button will appear on a building next to Club Errera. It’s located… upside down… it’s NOT on top of the building, it’s attached to the roof if you get what I mean.
Once you activate it, you need to pass through the big oval-shaped building. As you go through, you will be teleported into your new vehicle and all barriers are disabled, meaning you can explore sites such as the glassing points, the CCS cruisers and such that would be otherwise unreachable. To get the Pelican, you need to get through the building with a Falcon. To get a Phantom, you need to have the Banshee. I’m unsure whether you can cross the barriers with Falcons or Banshees.
Some things to know about either of these vehicles: The Pelican is solid and indestructible, but has no weapons. Other players can enter it as a passenger and can fire their weapons, but I believe it’s the slower of the two.
The Phantom is, unironically, capable of passing through buildings and stuff… but it usually results in your death. Unlike the Pelican, it has weapons in the form of the Plasma turrets on the sides that Marines and other players can use (but not yourself). The Phantom also isn’t indestructible, so after the right amount of damage, train go boom!
