I have an issue that has plagued this game from day 1 for me. While zoomed in a nd a few shots it auto melees and get me killed every time. It’s crazy frustrating. It doesn’t happen in any other game that uses similar controller functionality. Any ideas?

I don’t have any issues. I use the Xbox Elite 2 controller with the xbox PC wireless adapter.
You can download the xbox accessories app from the Microsoft store if you haven’t already for firmware updates and to test functionality of your controller. From your description doesn’t sound like a hardware issue but more of a software?
Have you tried another xbox controller?
I use the elite 2 on console and it melees randomly
It’s an xbox 360 controller for PC. There was an xbox controller tester app I downloaded from the store and it confirmed it’s working correctly. Could there be an issue in the Halo game>?
Change melee to bumper. The thumbstick is so sensitive it’ll auto melee.
