I’ve been hosting for a good 30 minutes and no one is there to join. I’ve looked at the stats for the Steam version and they actually have a consistent player base. If 343 would make it so that Steam and Windows store versions could play together, that would be great. I don’t want to spend 20 dollars just to be able to get a game.
I’m sorry to say, but I’m honestly not surprised. The second game just came out. It’s only natural that people are playing multiplayer on there instead.

It’s not so much that as it is that most people would rather play on the Xbox one. Console version has a consistent amount of players… Honestly PC does too, but the problem is that amount is 0.

Does the XB1 Halo Wars: DE have a good fan-base? I just ordered the Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition online, and it comes with Halo Wars: DE, so I was wondering if you know the answer.

It’s pretty easy to find players on console and steam. I know none
as i’ve said again and again:
the windows store version needs cross-play as a kind of exclusive & optional XBL feature. Or they need a deal with valve to get cross-play with steam, but xbl intern would be much better. (and forget your possible stereotypes about cp…)
343 has killed their play anywhere program through publishing a steam version.
they thought it would be a nice ad for hw2 version… they shot in the dark and someone is wounded.
the win store version’s multiplayer is since this day dead and hwde is only usefull for singleplayer/bots.
it’s near on the line to the illegality because it’s advertised with multiplayer and it has no working multiplayer because their playerbase was killed by the developer. the steam version is through key stores much cheaper, what means future gamers would pay more for less playable content if they would buy the win store version. what remains are a few not so smart guys (sorry guys but you were deceived) and the hw2 pre-order guys.
the same will happen, if they release a hw2 steam version. (remember: play anywhere was the official main priority for hw2)
btw: you don’t want cross-play? fine, you could disable it if you are on xbone and you could play alone if you are on pc.

If I had a dollar for every time we’ve gone over this, Bill Gates would be bowing to me.
Our last “altercation” resulted in you ALL CAPS RAGING, so I’d rather not go there again. As amusing as it was, I don’t want anyone banned
Crossplay between Steam and Microsoft store is absolutely vital. Console and Xbox though? If it was proven that the Steam and Win store link didn’t help at all, then I’d be in favor of enabling crossplay for private matches only (meaning that you must invite the player for them to be able to join the lobby). That said, if 343 linked Win store and Steam, I doubt the PC playerbase would remain low and there would be no need for Xbox-PC crossplay. The Steam version has been proven to have consistent players. The Win store version… Not so much. Different stores, but same console, and that’s what matters. There’s no reason there shouldn’t be crossplay there.
If Halo Wars 2 comes to Steam I feel like the same thing will happen again and I’m not buying it again to get the benefits of it being a Steam game.

crossplay between the XBL Network is way more realistic than crossplay between XBL and steam. not at least because of the money.
