So, performance on the PC side is still atrocious. With the GPU shortage / price insanity games should be able to run at a playable framerate on older GPUs like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and Rx 580 especially when you look at the steam hardware survey results:
I have a Rx580 8gb and a R5 2600 and can run Doom Eternal 1440p with 70-80 fps, but I can’t run Halo Infinite at 720p and get a solid 60fps on campaign (more like a very shaky 30-50).
Please 343 optimize this game in the next update, really disappointing to see how poorly this game is optimized. Really enjoy the game but the framerate struggles really does cut into the experience.
They have said there are no plans to fix this issue. Actually, they have said that they don’t like people running this game at more than 60fps so they make gsync broken and the 3080ti only able to get 80fps max so you have to vsync to 60 and turn down graphics if you want to play on pc.
I’m hitting a stable 120fps at 1080p on a 980ti dude at 90% render scale.
The game isn’t well optimized at all, but I’m not sure you understand how to use the settings correctly if you think you can only max 80fps on a 3080ti.
4k at first but it doesnt work. 1440p, same fps as 4k. I refuse to play at 1080p even if it would get the normal 200fps that my card puts out on finished games at 1080. 1440p should easily max out my 144hz monitor, which it does in EVERY OTHER GAME, but halo inifinte can barely get 100fps on the smallest multiplayer maps. Bro ur either lying or your playing with frame dips into the 20s. Don’t come at me with that bs of having 120 with the MINIMUM RECOMMENDED HARDWARE you as hat.
I’d be fine with running the game on all lowest settings if it got me a stable 60 FPS, but lowest settings cannot even accomplish that, apparently the stuttering issue is prevalent, even in the console when played on a Series X… I’ve seen the Digital Foundry vid comparing performance, and I am honestly very disappointed to say the least…
Cut the belligerence I’m literally helping you get the framerate you want and spoon feeding you the directions.
Infinite allows you in its settings to force a framerate by setting the max framerate to whatever ceiling you want to/can achieve and setting the minimum to where you want to maintain a stable framerate “floor” so to speak. The game autoscales the render scale to compensate for framerate preference.
I have mine set to 120/120 (min/max) and it does in fact offer a stable framerate. You can further adjust and tune the render scale and other
settings for less hardware impact.
Generational GPU difference doesn’t mean that the prefix number is necessarily below minimum spec, scaled performance is what’s important. GTX 980ti ≈ GTX 1070.
The 1000 series might be a generational leap ahead of the 900 series, but 980ti outperforms every 1050ti/RX570 (minimum spec for Infinite) on the market because these are cheap minimum spec cards.
Ok so with the right settings and with allowing dynamic resolution down to 480p I can get the same performance with my 3080ti as someone with a 980ti? Thanks for the help but I think you’re missing the point of my frustration. No game makes me turn off hd textures and turn everything to low AND turn on dynamic resolution in order to be playable. And sorry I assumed wrong about nvidias dumb as naming scheme.
I’m around 1821x1024 (probably a little less as the tuned scale kicks in), so I don’t think you’re dipping into 4:3 territory my guy.
The game lets you choose one or the other, though I’m sure with your specs you could probably tune it a bit more in the middle or either side of you fiddle around with it.
Again just the way the game is built man, hopefully it improves somehow. Besides, modern competitive titles and communities that play them have unanimously encouraged high framerates over graphical fidelity anyway. Not saying it’s for everyone, but it is the norm to sacrifice some clarity for better refresh rates.
