Anyone else having this problem? I wasn’t able to play Halo Wars 2 with stability for the past 3 days now… and now this happens.

Thanks for the reply. I’m not even sure why this issue wasn’t even addressed yet… considering that the patch had been our earlier today.
Getting the same issue.
Windows 10, immediately after update. The game comes up for half a second then disappears for me, can click play multiple times and nothing will happen.y played tab
Important note - The XBOX app believes the game is running. In the home tab, the “recently played” games tell you info such as achievements and when you last played the game. In this section it refreshes every 15 seconds saying “Last played Now” - however, the xbox app is running but no additional processes are running if you check task manager. This occurs immediately on opening the XBOX app for me. - hopefully that info helps.

After the update the first time I started it, it was syncing data then closed itself but now it works fine for me
Been playing for almost 4 hours before patch today. Soon as the patch was downloaded, Immediate CTD upon trying to open the game from any source.
Becomes worse than better.
I also literally can’t play the game. I see the Halo Wars 2 logo on startup and immediately closes to desktop. I had no prior issue before today’s patch.
Whatever anyone does, do not try to uninstall and re-install. It often does not allow you to reinstall the game, and microsoft still has not sorted out the issue! Just a heads up for everyone!
Edit: if you find yourself in this situation, the way i just figured out how to work around this is by uninstalling both Halo Wars 2 and Halo Wars: Definitive edition. If you dont uninstall both, the store will not be able to recognize that you need to redownload Halo Wars 2 - it will assume you have it downloaded because Halo Wars: DE is still registered in your library. so, uninstall both and then you can re-download both. - will edit to see if this helps with this problem or not.
Edit 2: this works great if youre willing to wait for the download! - dont be alarmed by the longer black screen loading the game when you get back in.
for me it does not crash but instead stays in a black screen after the company logos when you start the game, but that is also not great wanted to play with a friend and now I can’t because it doesn’t work for me, funny enough his game starts just fine…

Okay so the first time I reinstalled… yep, had to do it multiple times. I wasn’t sure why it randomly started all over when I reached 24 gb out of 26. And the second time, it went to install after reaching 26/26 gb, said it was restoring my user data, then it said error for a split second, then STARTED REINSTALLING ALL THE WAY FROM 10 MB OUT OF 26 GB FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I’ve never encountered anything like this before, on Steam, and even ORIGIN AND U-PLAY, which everyone hates with a passion.

No, I’m saying that I wasn’t even able to reinstall the game. I’m on the verge contracting brain cancer as of now because of THIS.
I had this issue on the 17th it kept auto closing anytime I left the game idle too long or was in the option screen try changing the graphic settings for your video card to high performance and see if that helps it worked for my machine.

It worked for me!
however, now it crashes after most Multiplayer matches.
I’m currently getting some help from Microsoft customer service since 343 has no direct means of contact with us and their mods keep pinning us on Microsoft customer service instead. The guy told me to do a clean boot and install the game again… for the third reinstall. He wants to isolate the possibility of another application causing an error. Although this never happened with the first install during early access. I’ll let you guys know how it goes xd
HOLY CRAP. GUYS. IT ACTUALLY WORKED. The clean boot that restarts the PC with ONLY necessary windows background processes, followed by a reinstall WORKED. Although my Norton program from Comcast ran in the background, since it’s literally impossible to close it’s program process (probably to prevent viruses from closing it). So I put it on silent mode, turned off auto protect, and also turned off it’s firewall just to be safe. My first install during early access had NO problems whatsoever, but apparently another app was messing with the Windows Store this time… I reported back with that 10 digit the guy gave me to a different agent and detailed what happened. Hopefully anyone else who reaches out to the Windows customer support will have this launch crash fixed. Although I wish that they didn’t have to reinstall the whole game… at least they didn’t have to reinstall it 3 times. Great fix Gloop5, I really appreciate it. Now AT LEAST I get to play Halo Wars 2 even with it’s bugs, but at least I have the glorious menu music to keep me sane xd
I also been having the issue where the game crashes at start up or after a match, and it started doing it right when the update came out… I had no issues prior to the update.
Also getting CTD after any online game, including custom games.
