Pc massive game crashing - multiplayer

Game is borderline unplayable, I have game crashes every second or third match. In the last two hours I’ve crashed around 7 times be it mid match, end of match, once or twice even just on the main menu when checking out the new stuff in the shop.

I have a mid-high end PC that I built only about 1 year ago with a RTX 2060, Ryzen 5 3600 and 16gb of ram. I play with all settings at minimum and average around 150-180fps. Even with a cap on at 60fps or 120fps (monitor is 144) crashes will still happen. Latest driver updates, High-res texture packs are disabled, even uninstalled and reinstalled, tried with no campaign installed, same sh*t.

I put 100 hours into this game in the first 3-4 weeks and I love it but for the last month easy I’ve just avoided playing all together except to do the events and then I get off it immediately, nothing more frustrating than completing challenges and then game crashing to lose them literally every two or three matches. I’m at a lost on what to do about it at this point. Campaign does not crash. Played through Steam.

I’m having the same exact issues - game is unplayable on PC. Tried over 20 different technical fixes and nothing. It’s most certainly an issue with the game because I have a high end PC and not a single other game has application hangs like this. Unplayable in current state.

Currently having the same issues and went through all of the same suggested fixers. Game is unplayable on pc

be sure to uninstall the High Res texture pack for multiplayer, fixed my issues for the most part.
If that doesn’t work, try lowering some of the exposure settings and the ones around that setting.

It sucks that this happens but we have to deal with the cards we are dealt with, it seems this is a harder fix then 343 has foreseen and may take some time.

Edit, I have a laptop with 4GB of VRAM and a 1650 Nvidia Geforce GPU and I have a consistent 90 fps, if that helps.

same issue with a RTX3080 TI and Ryzen 5900x 32gb RAM.
It think i was already banned 10 times because of this bug!

PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Constantly crashing on a 5950x and 3090, all ‘fixes’ have not done anything to fix the issue.

What are your other specs? Only reason I ask is aside from the GPU, I’d wager we’re running some similar specs and I don’t have many issues with Infinite.

My rig:

  • 5960x (overclocked to 4.4ghz)
  • 32gb 3200mhz
  • 980ti (stock clock, but Max power parameters enabled)
  • OS on NVMe
  • game on HDD
  • 360mm individually aio cooled CPU/GPU

I’ve maybe crashed 10 times since beta, and nothing since early December.

I’ve heard some rumblings suggest GPU power draw might be an issue (some AMD cards draw too little compared to their Nvidia counterparts, even though you’re running a 3090). Maybe that has something to do with it?

Why would you do this to yourself?

Because shaving off 6-8 seconds of inconsequential load time that’s offset by match start sequences anyway isn’t worth the precious space on my SSD’s where they make a bigger difference on larger games with more assets to load lol.

More simplistic multiplayer titles usually don’t benefit from SSD performance over HDD’s in impactful or meaningful ways especially if I’m exceeding the desired performance regardless of storage form factor. Massive randomly generated Battle Royale games and sprawling open world RPG’s do however.

Yeah the game constantly crashes with me too, always seems to happen when having a good game, just to make matters worse
5950x
3080ti
32gb ram

343’s silence on this sickening me.
Think I’m done with game, was so hyped but it has been a huge let down as a PC gamer

Terabyte SSDs aren’t expensive anymore. I would never be able to go back. Not sure about you but I would notice a huge difference.

I’ve only crashed once, must be something with your PC specs…

Well it can be. Truth be told I’m more apt to go with more bang for my buck than faster bang for my buck. And right now I’m not spending any cash frivolously.

As someone who already has 750gb of dedicated SSD game storage, 4tb of dedicated HDD game storage, there are uses for both.

I get about 6-8 seconds faster load times into my matches in Halo Infinite on an SSD, when HDD load times are about 12-15 seconds long. Since load times are irrelevantly short anyway and the game does not start until all players are loaded in, I’m not too upset saving some SSD storage for games that can shave off a good chunk of a longer load time.

Same issues here, 3080. Tried every little fix, crashing randomly every session. Basically unplayable

Thank you PC players for providing us console players with yet another reason why crossplay needs to go away!

Whether it is your fault or not when your game “crashes” if you can’t finish your match the rest of the team pays for that, too.

I don’t mind “voluntary” crossplay that is 100% “opt-in”.
How many Series S/X players do you think will “opt-in”? LOL

Also here to add the “my game is crashing” tally.

Just like the many others, I also have a decent computer
5900X, EVGA 3070, 64GB, etc. and it’s not like this is running on 5 year old laptop.

Steam version - disabling the texture pack DLC fixed my crashing issues, and I went a week or two with no crashes. The crashing resumed with the Jan 19 patch.

Here are some patterns I’ve noticed. Maybe there’s some overlap with what others are having:

  • on average I crash about every 5 games or so
  • The crashes seem to happen mid match
  • The crashes can happen back to back, or may not have them for several games (even playing on all the maps)

I love this game, but the crashes are really hurting the experience and I hope this can get fixed soon.
