PC Insider Bug Reporting & video / screenshots

Regarding the confidentiality agreement and submitting bug reports (on PC):

I have not found any info (yet) about submitting bug reports on PC. I have been part of earlier MCC flights on Xbox which use the insider app for this, but PC obviously doesn’t have that.

Based on the assumption that sharing gameplay (e.g. videos on youtube) is not allowed in some or all of the flights; I would like to ask if it is somehow possible to still record videos/screenshots of issues I encounter.

The easiest solution I could think of was recording a video using Nvidia’s Shadowplay and saving it whenever something happens. I could then upload it to youtube and include it in a forum post or whatever for bug reporting. This brings up the issue that users cannot be trusted to list all videos as private (viewable with link only) and not to share the link to others. Because of this I would like to know if there is a preferred way to go about this.

Some things that come to mind are a webpage dedicated to bugreports which includes file transfers and such. Maybe the forum itself allows for (small) videos to be uploaded directly, which would be kept in an insider subforum or something. I am not aware of any of these features here, which is why I made this topic.

I know I’m probably early with asking this, considering I don’t even know if I’ll be selected for flighting, but I figured I may as well ask this sooner rather than later.

Small note: The forum just spit out an error stating I reached my daily post limit of “0”. It posted anyway, but if this is some kind of issue I can fix then let me know.

Waypoint is having intermittent issues, just ignore that.

I’m not how how feedback / bugs will work on PC, but like Xbox there are ways to record and share videos for this sort of thing (Feedback Hub). I imagine we’ll get more information on this closer to the point of flights beginning

Yeah I figured as much. I guess I’ll wait for that too then. Thanks for the info.

Actually PC does have the Xbox Insider App on PC, you can download it from the Windows 10 store actually.
Whether or not this app will be the way to download beta builds of Halo MCC is unknown, but the app does in fact exist. I’d also highly recommend joining the Windows Gaming program that does exist to, as you’ll likely need that just to download Halo MCC PC beta at all.

Keep in mind, everything I’m stating here is speculation until it actually happens, but you’ll likely be able to report bugs through some built in function located on the game it-self as well.

I believe they were trying to make an easier way for Beta testers to report bugs etc, that may be updated soon, I don’t remember where I heard this but I’m guessing it’ll be a thing soon.

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks!
I wasn’t aware of the insider app on the Windows store. I never even thought about the possibility of it existing there.

As for the Windows Gaming program… I’m pretty sure it was confirmed that flights would become available through Steam (which is why we need to link the accounts in the first place), but I’ll keep that in mind in case I need it.

They’ve said in the FAQ that you’ll download/be given access to betas through steam.

I hope to record and broadcast my halo Reach games during the insider.

I believe you can’t do that as you’d pretty much be breaching the NDA. I may be mistaken though, you can probably release clips post-launch.

MCC Insiders initially couldn’t stream or post videos, this restrictions were eventually lifted later on. There is no info about how that will work with the Halo Insiders program yet. Keep an eye on any emails you recieve for info or any updates to the FAQs

I would use OBS Studio. Its easy to setup and it will record any window, display, browser source, and etc. You can also add in little widgets and popups from browser sources as well. That of course if 343 Industries will allow it since it is an outside program.

Regarding the topic, Even I had my doubts as to how basically the “feedback” and “bug-reports” etc… would work, this forum exists but it is also accessible by public + halo insiders but only a few are selected, I wondered if these selected insiders for each flight would have to use a sub-forum or an app or direct communication (which may be the guy 343 hired a couple months back to basically take in ALL the insider feedback from the community and take it to them).
This will be interesting and we’ll definitely get alot of our questions answered as we get closer to the first flight!

If I remember correctly the first flights simply had a subforum which was restricted to flight participants only. Since they mentioned they wanted to improve the feedback and bug reporting this time around I’d imagine we get an improved version of that, or perhaps something standalone or in-game.

That will depend on how aggresive their anti-cheat system is. Overlay and recording software can sometimes trigger those systems, which is why I prefer to use shadowplay instead (saves the video output from the GPU directly as far as I know, without doing anything to the games). But that’s a whole different topic that I’ll not go into here.

I just use fraps, unless however the MCC is on DX12 in which case it will not work.

Your welcome for that info, but the FAQ doesn’t say anything about beta builds releasing only on Steam. All I see in the FAQ is that linking your Steam account is mandatory to get beta builds at all. Whether or not they’ll be released through Steam is 100% unknown.

Read above.

Halo MCC will 100% be using DX12, but how does this stop you from recording it with fraps? I’ve seen people record DX12 games already with fraps, so what’s stopping you from doing it?

Since its gonna have Reach remastered it’s probably a high chance of running DX12

My bad. I must have been misinformed or misinterpreted it.
