PC Forge without PC Halo 5 makes no sense

So we know the game runs great on PC, why can’t we buy it? Who is the editor for? Xbox players who already have it? Or PC players who can’t even play it?

At the very least, we should have full Multiplayer with matchmaking + forge, anything less makes no sense, anything more makes total sense, but at least we could play the game.

Very confused – I’m not going to buy an Xbox, so why waste development resources getting the game to run on PC with full settings and everything?

Little thing I want to note, the PC version is getting a server browser sometime soon.

Because the objective of Halo 5 Forge is two-fold.

First it provides 343 with an open-platform to improve their PC development. People are going to be more forgiving to a free stripped down version of a game instead of a full paid experience. Turn 10 did the same with Forza 6 Apex. It lets the developers tune their engine to the PC and develop a better way of supporting the platform. I have no doubt that if we see the full Halo 5 or Halo 6 on the PC platform it will have benefited from the experiences and feedback gained from this project.

Secondly, it lets them gauge interest, how many players are playing this, how many people are trying to play this, how many people are talking about it. It lets them see if there is truly a proper market for not just Halo 5 but Halo as a whole, on the PC. Yes it might seem obvious to say “of course there is” but that isn’t how it works. For all we know, the market for Halo on PC could be far smaller than we think it is. But overall I feel that most importantly, it comes back to point number one, they need any full launch of Halo on PC to be near perfect and releasing this game as a test of the waters ensures they can get kinks out of the system now instead of later.

TL:DR
Getting their PC development skills up to speed
Getting the PC version of their engine and development up to speed for future releases
Testing the waters and seeing how people react to Halo on PC
