Pc crossplay and hackers

Have you actually tried using the “report system”?

It’s so convoluted and tedious, it would be easier to just install hacks myself and level the playing field.

No I think I’ll just not play the game and sit here and complain about it until someone gets off their -Yoink!- and fixes it.

Do you mean Gears of War 2 after patch 6? After patch 6 there was a “hacked disc version” ( i dont go in details ) where the pistol got a “god mode” 1 shot = 1 kill and gave millions of match point so all leaderboards became useless. Every legit player who was in the Top x of the leaderboards now had cheaters above him with a million and more points.

What happened next? All console that run that special disc hack were banned from live. All xbox gamertags associated to the console where banned.
What happened to the leaderboards of gears 2? Unfortunately they couldnt be cleaned up. I dont remember the technical reason, why this was not possible.

This, there is a possiblity to report a cheater. Visit the support portal of halo waypoint. There you find the instruction how to do this.

It takes time, i know it, because i dont wanted to let pass a cheater that i came across in halo infinite. So i followed the instructions and opened a ticket.

That was a big one. I don’t think they caught everybody when they did ban people because I had a friend that I stopped playing with in Gears 2 because he tried to get me to do this. He went from lvl 60-100 overnight and he’s actually online right now under the same account

Know what you mean. I was in the same situation. I refused to use the “hack” and didnt play with a few of player in my friend list.
They used the hack and were caught. Their Xbox console was banned and also their xbox account. But im absolute sure, that they couldnt get everyone. This player/cheater had just luck.

But the point is, its much more complicated to use / implement hacks on a console than on a PC. Plus they can apply more drastic measure when a console cheater get caught as when a PC Cheater get caught.

this is a link to the old Crossplay discusion.
https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/please-no-cross-play/254025
(one thing to make sure before you going to read it the quote’s there on that thread are messy its sadly with all old threads from the old forum)

a lot off people have warning on that old thread from 2018 all that its worse to have crossplay for matchmaking since its become worse.
sure it go’s there on that old thread more about keyboad and mouse but it has also warning’s sing’s about the hackers risk.

and 2 years later 343 has ignore the warning sign’s that have been told about the risk’s with crossplay with pc players and see what is happing if you get crossplay in matchmaking.

Yeah there’s definitely a barrier to cheating on console versus PC. I’m not under any illusions here and I know that cheating occurs more often on PC. I’ve experienced this firsthand when I switched to PC and started seeing it more often.
In fact when I started seeing cheaters on PC more often I looked back to all the times I thought somebody was cheating on console and realized they weren’t cheating and that I was just being a baby because they were playing better.

PC is as simple as going to a shady site and buying some software, but with consoles you have to circumvent the actual console somehow.

Fun fact, Valorant used a new “kernel based anti-cheat” that ran at the deepest functions on PC’s. It was basically given administrative access to your PC, and was designed to find hacks/cheats/exploits on the computer. The game was actually claimed by Devs as being “cheat proof”…

So naturally, workarounds started popping up within the first month of launch, and players were falsely banned due to the program misidentifying files and data.

But this was way back then, Valorant does have a refined anti-cheat now, and cheaters (while they do exist) are kept to a minimum. However even with its automated system, combatting cheaters is an ongoing process, there’s never been one permanent solution to stop cheaters from cheating. It’s a constant battle to keep up with it, even with systems like Valorant’s.

Lot of players don’t realize that there isn’t a magic “no hack code” that can be added to a game. Much like how firewalls work, the anti-cheat system has to be constantly updated with information about what’s being used, and in many ways this is tied directly to player feedback through reports and data provided there.

There’s no point in continuing this conversation, since you’re so vehemently in denial even with hard proof of cheating on console being possible. This is something called confirmation bias. As I’ve said, you can literally go look at modding communities and see that console modding and cheating has been a thing for a very long time. It’s nothing new, and it’s still around today. Your reasoning for PC cheaters being the reason to disable crossplay is ignorant because there are cheaters on your own platform, but you’re choosing to ignore them because they don’t help you reach your own ideals.

Yes i agree it is pointless continuing this conversation because you cant tell the difference between some weird video of a supposed hack on console from 2013 that was so extremely rare that i’d never seen in the game or ever heard of. To a current game that is so infested it is unplayable, where hackers are common. and everybody is talking about them. Where every cheater shown is of pc player and not a console player. It is mind blowing that you would think its even close to being the same thing.

is this discusion about that that xbox can use cheats/hacks or not more pointless?

so there can have cheats/hacks working but its more risky then pc players since concole players need to pay to play multiplayer and pc players not so that point is think clear.

the main point is here more and thats something we agree all (i hope)
that crossplay for matchmaking is worse thing that the matchmaking can have all is it free to play or not its still worse to have since its only give problems to the game.

and to make also clear.
i have not play any matchmaking game yet the only reason i not playing any matchmaking game yet is that i not trust the Crossplay system and it seems i was right.
so the point to start playing matchmaking is for me pointless so long there not fix that problem first by make it a option or remove it thats the only reason i am not playing matchmaking yet.

I just had a hacker in a game of quick play. Like you said, very obvious when watching back in theatre. Was able to beat the team bit he had 32 kills. Honestly when will this game be better!

Yeh ive never seen any. First hacks ive ever come across were on warzone from pc players and it was every single game so i stopped playing. Ive played the halos, battlefields, gears, cods, pubg etc many different games over the years and never had any problems with hackers, never seen an outcry of people complaining about them on console. Ive played every battlefield, never seen a cheater. Battlefield 2042 they were selling pc cheats for beta! and it had forced crossplay on xbox i didnt even bother buying it. Like i said if there are hacks on console they must be extremely rare and those peoples consoles must be banned pretty quick which is great. Hacks on pc are extremely common it seems because i see them in every crossplay game i play and nothing can be done. I would bet if we removed crossplay i wouldnt see any again. The thing is if we were seeing any of these hackers on console i wouldnt of even made this thread but they have been 100% pc.

Nah cheaters and hackers are rare af at least in lower elo lobbies. So sorry to burst your bubble, you can play the game without getting paired with a cheater every game

i not care if there is a 5% chance you end up with a pc cheater/hacker in the lobby then i am still not going to play.

i have make my point years ago all clear about crossplay in matchmaking in the old thread discusion about crossplay.

so long there is force crossplay i not going to play matchmaking since i not wane play with any pc players in the lobby only with concole’s i wane play.
and its not that i hate pc players no its more the risk is to high you end up with a pc cheater/hacker in the lobby and then its no fun any more to keep playing a match if you end up with a cheater/hacker in the lobby.

Yep that’s right my man. It’s funny how most of the players who want to keep crossplay on, are PC players.

This is just false. Maybe you’re exaggerating for effect but this as a statement of fact is false, and the overwhelming majority of PC players don’t cheat and anticheat when implemented correctly will severely lessen the cheaters that players would encounter
I play multiplayer games on PC almost every day and I have very very long stretches of time where I don’t encounter cheaters. I’m talking about months here where I will not be able to definitively say that I saw a cheater in a match I was in.
To be completely fair here, I do avoid games where cheating is prevalent. You brought up warzone and that’s actually a great example of a game where there is a severe cheating problem and a lot of that boils down to the fact that the game doesn’t have even a basic anticheat.

Have you played Apex or MCC? Those games are crossplatform and you won’t run into cheaters on them very often with crossplay turned on. I think you are exaggerating the number of times you run into cheaters or maybe you aren’t correctly identifying them as cheaters

I actually find it super weird that you didn’t encounter cheaters on Battlefield because I remember going into games on the 360 and seeing some guy in a Jet just murder the entire lobby in a split second. The killfeed would just be the one name and all 12 enemies would be dead in a single second.
Granted when they gave the community the option to buy servers, you could get into good ones where a server admin would ban cheaters as they popped up

I’ve played almost 300 matchmade matches on Infinite and not once have I come across a cheater. If what you said were anywhere remotely close to being true, I would have come across even a single cheater by now. Tough luck, you’re exaggerating. It’s clear they exist, I’m not debating that fact here as I’ve seen the videos people have shared of cheaters in Infinite, but the game being “infested” with them to the point of unplayability is a bold faced lie that you and others are perpetuating just because you don’t want to play against PC players. Not wanting to play against PC players while on console is fine, but don’t overexaggerate just to get what you want.

It’s mind blowing that you’re so closed minded that you’re refusing being told where to find hard evidence and even being given video proof that cheating happens on consoles because it’s some “weird video from 2013” that “never actually happens in my games.” Just admit you hate PC players at this point, because that’s honestly all you’re doing without directly saying it. Cheaters exist on all platforms, they always have and they always will, but you’re just ignoring the ones that are on your own platform because they don’t support your own wildly inaccurate theory that only PC players cheat.

This is my last reply here though, because it’d be easier to convince a brick wall. Enjoy living in your delusional fantasy land of consoles being free of cheaters (even though it’s really not, just go take a look).

Crossplay should be a toggle.

You are platinum 5 player have not read what i have said. IN ONYX. Cheaters are not gonna be in low ranks obviously. You have no experience even playing in diamond how can you even be commenting on what im saying. You literally have no idea and yet you are commenting about it. You have shown me a video of halo 3 from 9 years ago it means absolutely nothing. Show me console cheaters on infinite. I have never come across a console cheater ever because its extremely rare. Pc cheaters dominate crossplay games and everybody is seeing them. Are you confused of why the massive majority of console players want crossplay off. Do you think everybody just hates pc players. No we hate cheaters and they are all on pc.

Well with warzone every single game i played there were multiple pc cheaters in there which is why i said it seems common. For a while it was fine didnt see any then it gradually got worse until it was literally every game. Same thing is happening with infinite, its getting worse and it will be every single game aswell. Im not even talking about being suspicious of minor things, im not one for just screaming hacker at every good player i see. Im talking about blatant aim bots and wall hacks where these people mow down every player they see flicking instantly between players like a robot, just the obvious hacks. Turning off crossplay this all goes away and nope never seen anything like that on battlefield. Seen plenty of glitches but never seen hackers, aim bots, wall hacks, super jets nothing. What would a hack like that even be in a jet and which battlefield was it?
