PC Constant Game Crashes - No Dev Acknowledgement?

My game keeps crashing on launch now, just starated having the issue last night and have no idea how to fix. Ive tried to verify the cash uninstall and reinstall but nothing is working now

Dont release something on a platform that you arent going to provide active support for? Theres so many of us crashing on PC. Look at the reviews on Steam…

I don’t crash quite as often as the OP, but still too frequently to play ranked, which is one of my favorite modes. It’s really frustrating to rank down over time simply because the game is unstable and you lose enormous amounts of rating for crashes.

Wish they’d fix it. Don’t have confidence they will.

This is the dumbest take I’ve ever heard. Imagine if halo had console issues that made the game unplayable and the PC players rubbed it in your face - hurr durr don’t play on console duh.

Could you please try this fix for me and tell me if it worked?

After trying legit 20 different fixes I think I found something that works - no crashes since I adjusted this:

  1. Edit the file SpecControlSettings.json which should be in C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\HaloInfinite\Settings

  2. Change the min and max FPS thresholds to be IDENTICAL:

    ā€œspec_control_minimum_framerateā€: {
    ā€œversionā€: 2,
    ā€œvalueā€: 80
    },
    ā€œspec_control_target_framerateā€: {
    ā€œversionā€: 1,
    ā€œvalueā€: 80

My FPS thresholds are both set to 80 in the example above.

This resolved all midgame crashes for me - no crashes since I made this edit in the settings file - hope this helps other folks.

This does not work. I actually even took a spec file from a friend that has a working game to see if it was something within the spec causing the crashing. I am almost 100% certain it is related to the memory leak.

Originally when the game first released I was crashing on the map streets. I had min frame and max frame set to unlimited. Once I limited the frames that resolved the crashing. Now after what ever patch they released, it doesn’t matter what my setting are. I crash before I can even get into a game. Just going to wait for them to fix it 2 years from now.

Did you try to limit both min and max FPS to a fixed number rather than unlimited? Just a thought try 60 fixed FPS first to see if it helps then can increased like me to 80 max and min or higher.

Game pass or Steam version? Multiplayer game pass version is completely unplayable for me. Just crashes to desktop while loading the map, campaign works just fine. So I since then downloaded the Steam version and am able to play multiplayer.

Here’s how game pass version worked for me…

Not just PC. Never had an Xbox game crash. Ever. Until halo infinite. It crashes at least once a play session.

Both. Tried them both. I literally can’t get in a game anymore. I get to the start screen select a game mode, as it’s loading I crash.

Are you running an OC on your GPU?

The game was crashing for me on PC at least twice daily during my gaming sessions. The crashes were usually mid-game or towards the end of a match. My PC is an HP Omen with a Ryzen 9 and 3070 GPU. Ended up buying a Series X bundle at GameStop a couple of weeks ago and have had ZERO crashes, and I’m not exaggerating, I haven’t crashed once on the Series X. I rather play Infinite on 120 fps (Series X performance setting) than crash multiple times a day just to say I can get more fps on PC. Plus, in order for me to achieve 165 fps on PC I need to drop all the in-game graphics settings to low and the game still crashes. I’ve seen a lot of pro streamers cap the fps at 120 since the next tournament will be played on Xbox…not sure if that helps with crashing.

Anyone denying that PC crashes are a significant issue obviously didn’t watch the HCS Raleigh tournament.

You know, the one where the main stage had so many crashes back to back that games were delayed for hours, and resulted in all the PCs getting replaced by Series X dev kits? It was a complete mess, broadcasts to hundreds of thousands of people watching.

I have a Ryzen R9 5900x cooled by a Corsair H150i 360mm rad, in a ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero MB, with 64GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHz RAM, installed on a 2TB WD Black 850 M.2 NVMe in PCI4.0, and an MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio GPU. There should be absolutely NO problem with my rig. Some days I’m totally fine, and other days I crash 3 times within a couple hours. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

I can’t even load a btb match after the new patch lol

And they blamed it on AMD’s drivers. They’re taking no accountability and not even showing any bit of acknowledgement, which is a big red flag.
