PC aiming

I play Halo 5 Forge on my PC (eagerly awaiting Halo 6 PC), and I’m having trouble aiming. The aiming feels wrong. I’m a pretty good shot, and generally do well in similar games like Destiny (similar in TTK), but I’m getting massacred in Halo. Is the problem with my sensitivity (650 DPI with 0.5 sensitivity)? Is there something different than normal with acceleration (I’m using default) or something? Your help is much appreciated.

The aiming feels fine for me on pc when i play it.

Mmm well I haven’t played much Halo 5 PC, but I do know on almost all shooters on PC the Auto Aim is turned off because you’re using a mouse and keyboard which is easier to aim with over using a controller. But I for one wish the Auto Aim was automatically turned off for all shooter games on Consoles and PCs.

search youtube, r/halo, or r/forge subreddit for gamecheat13’s exuberant witness mod. This will allow you to adjust your settings a bit closer to something you’ll find enjoyable, as well as give you a few toys to play with that only work on the PC version.

It’s probably just the movement.
aiming while strafing is harder than just aiming and running forward or to the side or standing still.
thats usually peoples problems when they start off in halo or never bothered to really play it.

I play on pc using an xbox 360 controller (I don’t like kb/m). Took me a bit to get acclimated to it but it feels like the console to me now pretty much. I think I bumped the sens up 1 if I remember right. Lag can be really bad on pc so that doesn’t help.

I can’t stand controllers. I use K+M.

The worst is trying to move around and fight on mouse+KB. It’s hilarious to me that it feels like Halo 5 is using too many constant buttons for a PC game. I have a 5 button mouse and it’s still too much to press all at once between using WASD to move and trying to simultaneously keybind crouch, ADS, shoot, thrust, melee, jump, weapon switch, reload, and grenade all in immediately accessible places.

And this is coming from someone with a consistent 2000+ rating in WoW PvP.

I guess that’s what controllers are best at, providing the most immediately accessible buttons of any platform.

I’m going to disagree with you there. I have a Redragon M902 Samsara, and I can use all the functions just fine. The FoV is, however, awful.

I’m not strictly playing on the PC platform. I have a M+KB adapter for my Xbox that my brother gave to me because he hated it. Everyone says those things turn you into a god, and they might on some games, but it made my play so much worse on Halo that I can’t even deal with it. I was constantly boosting at the wrong angles, couldn’t properly make my jumps…it was a mess. Basically traded all my strategy for slightly better aim and it was so not worth it.

I’m back to my Elite controller and I only ever use that thing when I want to play slower-paced single player games.

You can see that happening on pc. The average pc player isn’t flying all over the place like on console. (There are exceptions of course.) On console I was average, on pc I can use a controller and make people miss a lot more often. It does seem to me that Halo 5 just flows better with a controller.

i got better in halo 5 with a mouse n keyboard, my crouch and thrust are both on my mouse. Normally bind left ALT to crouch but H5 forge does’t let you so i use a side mouse button. I can get perfected on people strafing every now and then and have around a 50% accuracy with a mouse now. i play on 2 sense with the mouse though.

bro just grab a Razer Naga Trinity. One mouse with 3 different side panels to make it a 5 button, 10 button, or 15 button mouse  I play all my games with the full 12 button side panel on it because it give you all the access in the world

I appreciate the advice but I don’t like Razer products. They’re unreasonably priced and they’re famous for breaking after a year or two of gentle use.

Oh, trust me, console games need auto-aim, especially Halo 5. The aiming is already pretty terrible in Halo 5, and without auto-aim I would never play this game.

To each their own lol I have also used the Corsair Scimitar and Roccat (Dell/Alienware) sells a very expensive but highly customizable mouse that you can actually 3D print your own side buttons for :D.

I still have my very first Razer Naga Epic Chroma which was pricey but I still use it on a daily basis. Then I went through 4 Naga’s that ended up having sensor issues but Razer RMA’d them. Not the fastest process but I only paid for 2 mice because I bought 2 originally then one died, replaced, replacement died, they gave me credit and I bought the new Trinity and a mouse bungee (free with the credit) and had $10 left to help discount the Kitty Ears for my wife.

May be an unrelated issue but I’ve noticed that every time I swap from controller to keyboard/mouse and vise versa, my controls and sensitives are reset, including invert. Perhaps your issue stems from this

The 4 broken Nagas are exactly what I’m talking about haha. I recently switched to a Logitech G Pro from an old 12-button and I’m absolutely in love with the thing.

I can play on 5 - 3 on PC and get 60% accuracy while on Xbox i have to play on 3-3 to even be able to hit shots.

Are you using a controller on PC?
