Paywalls everywhere

So I didn’t realise that I am forced to buy every single season pass. I though there would be some content for free players too. There is literally no reason for me to progress because I won’t get anything anyway. If I spend months playing I might get a visor or two.
As someone who would have gladly bought the game if I had that option, this kinda hurts.

Some might be wondering why I don’t just buy the pass. But I don’t want to support this direction for games. I’m not judging you for being ok with it.

I just wanted the regular/classic or old-school Master Chief helmet. But that was too much to ask for, lmao.

These free-to-play style money-grab games kind of suck

“thought there would be some content for free players too”

bud. you literally got the game for free and you’re whinging about not getting cosmetics you can’t even bloody see when you’re playing for free also.

and you’re not forced to buy anything, nothing in the store adds anything to the gameplay.

You see it in the menu’s, and at the start and end of matches.

Those intro and outros are specifically to go “look at all your teammates with cool armor, you should get some too!”

And there are in fact free games that let you get cosmetics for free.

If you buy campaign you don’t suddenly get treated as a ‘buy to play’ player either. The game treats you as a grifter even if you give it money.

Nobody is forcing you to buy a season pass. There are zero paywalls to play this game. The only things that you can pay for are purely cosmetic. But you can play the entire multiplayer game without spending any money on the game.

To clarify what I meant with "forced. That was probably the wrong way to phrase it.
Better way to put it would have been: “So I didn’t realise that I am forced to buy every single season pass if I want to customise my spartan almost at all”

The game being free is the main thing I am complaining about. Ultimately that is where the problem originates.

I understand what you are saying. I personally dont mind battle passes but the fact everything js locked behind them is frustrating as someone that played the other games, where no matter what we got an included collection of cosmetics.

Honestly, i kinda hope we can unlock atleast some basic armour sets (maybe 5 sets) from buying/playing the campaign.

I undersrand the need to support the developers but this does seem like an over reach when the fan base is so used to standard armour sets being unlocked though gameplay.

I will still buy all the battle passes. But a few sets of armour linked to playing the campaign would be great step forward to support the long-term fans.

Good point. The free-to-play model actually hurts those who spend money on it more than the free players. Now they must spend 100s of dollars to unlock meaningful armor customizations.

The free players will either just keep dealing with the lack of being able to set up cool armor, or just get bored and move on. So it doesn’t really hurt them as much, in my opinion.

I respect that.
And ofc I agree that the developers deserve payment. I’m not quite personally comfortable supporting the deal I’m given in MP this time. But I’ll definitely still pay full price for campaign.

I would buy the game for 60, hell even 70 if it meant that the stuff coming to the store were free for me are behind a grind. This f2p model sucks.

Suggest a better business model.

The game was made free to justify the business model, this has been the case with every other f2p game in the last two years, all following the same trend trying to catch that billion dollar cash wave.
Customization is an integral part of the game or it wouldnt be there, its important to people and this business model takes advantage of that.

Why should this game be for free? I’ve never noticed that there are games in the gamepass that are listened in the store as f2p e.g. apex, warzone,…

Unlocking cosmetics, ranking up, and customizing your spartan is part of the intended and stated gameplay. Players are forced to either play a game which has had some of the gameplay elements restricted, or pay too much for too little.
