Paying for cosmetics

Wait, you still believe what they say?

OK, I’m just going to remain speechless.

Sorry, but you got to understand that shaming people who had nothing to do with designing the progression doesn’t fix anything.

That’s just shifting the blame.

People are just frustrated listening to them saying, “battlepass won’t be…” and it is and “battlepass will be…” and it isn’t for the last X years.

I personally don’t care, I was sad enough to earn 152 in H5 so I’ll just wear that let down of a red spotty mess and let people argue it out here.

I’m more interested in the actual gameplay problems that should be the most important thing but are being shadowed by this progression/battlepass chat and here I am chatting about just that.

Hugely agreed, particularly about how it has changed my opinion of people with sweet armor. I use to look at it in Reach and go “damn they worked hard for that, I don’t wanna -Yoink!- with them and damn I’d love to get there,” but since the only thing between me and that armor now is a paywall and a grind that isn’t based on skill, I just laugh a bit when I see the armor. Some of it looks cool but when the MVP gets the same XP as the worst player it’s just a badge that you have nothing to do but play halo, and are willing to pay for your gear.

It’s totally flipped the whole thing on its side. I’m sure some people might think their armor looks cool but it seems like to many it’s just a badge of wealth and boredrom.

Even though I agree that this needs to stop. We don’t get to say what others do with their money. The only thing we can do is suggest, and what anyone does from there is their own choice.

Personally, If this is what to expect from 343, then it’s another game that had the potential to be a great game just thrown down the drain because of a stupid -Yoink!- shop. Halo was never created to be a cash shop, and shops are running gaming these days because of the companies stepping way over the line knowing what shops were actually intended for.

(Halo is not a true f2p game, and never will be.) So why the hell is 343 trying to treat it like one other than to grab as much cash as they can only having us go off of word of moth of whats to be expected in this game?

There are no guarantees that the campaign will have enough content. This is where people need to wake up to reality. There is this thing called license agreement, (subject to change.) That some companies abuse. This means 343 has the right to say one thing but their actions will show another. This also means they can change things when they want, what they want, and as many times as they want as they see fit. We as consumers literally have no say in anything at all.

Then there are things like not adding Co-op, the forge world, etc… Just content being drip-feed while the shop is the game’s main focus at this point.

How is anyone excited about that reality? I sure as hell am not, and it doesn’t give me “incentive” to buy anything at all.

To be honest it was the only way to get people engaged in this topic to say that. Of course anyone can do what they please and making a topic that is a small bit salty gets people talking. Cheers for the support

Paid cosmetics are very common nowadays, especially with a free to play game and one that is a live service. Although it is not traditional to Halo, I understand 343’s reasoning and don’t mind that they exist. I admit that I paid for the standard battle pass and 1 bundle, but I justified it by not having to pay $60-$70 for the game itself. Sure some prices in the store seem absurd, but it’s the players choice to buy or not.

I do agree however, that it is ridiculous that Spartan colors are not universal across all 3 armor types aside from the HCS “Pepsi” skin.

I ultimately don’t believe micro transactions are the issue (as long as they are not pay to win), but rather the poor progression system and event earnings that result in minimal customization options early in the game.

well if you all keep paying, don’t cry when certain features are locked behind a paywall.

if you can’t control your spending habbits. your screwed basically.

it already became an addiction which is bad in the future.

good thing i won’t be buying halo infinite if every feature will be locked behind a paywall, lol. thats going to turn off tons of people.

i don’t see halo selling well. welp. bye halo.

I understand that, I just felt the reality of what has taken place so far needed to be thrown out there👍

Usually, comments like this are from players that just started playing Halo and don’t know any better…

how are they new?

who says they are new?

so caused they can’t afford the items, they are new?

thats reaching.

so you wnat to see features in campaign locked behind a paywall too? you feeling ok? you rich?

Some need to learn to read…

The other thing is, the last comment was what you call reaching for something that was never said. No game ever has to be behind a paywall to have a shop in order for the game to be successful.

Case and point, the original Halo made the franchise $5 billion without a shop.

so?

by encouraging this. is going to kill halo faster.

i think people need to let bungie go.

I agree with you I think that microtransactions need to be removed or scaled down significantly by about 80 or 90% of the cost before they’re even worth buying because at their prices they have now they are absolutely not worth it and Halo 5 you didn’t need to purchase the packs unless it was like a special time pack that was like 100,000 req points but all of my armors I never bought a single req pack I just got them from playing warzone firefight and three for three has made a statement that they have heard the complaints and will be changing things in the long run which I figured they would and I hope that they address the cosmetics first and make it to where you actually earn them from playing the game not that the only way to get any of them is to buy the battle pass or buy them in the store for like $20

Have you not played this game at all. It literally is a game with a paywall

just saying, I know it is, and it’s why I have no interest in getting the battle pass, or really buying anything from the shop.

343 hasn’t offered jack -Yoink!- to justify their actions.

Here’s the difference with the game being free and the game being $60 if the game was $60 saving up $60 to purchase the game would get you the campaign multiplayer and every single cosmetic item in the multiplayer and it would give you a progression system like every other Halo game but no 343i has chose the free to play route like every other company instead of making the beta free to play because it’s a beta and then when the actual game is released it comes with the Halo infinite campaign purchase if you’ve already pre-ordered it.

Also that being said in the long run those $60 will be worth it because you’ll be getting the campaign and the multiplayer and you’ll be able to fully customize your character the same way you were able to in Halo reach Halo 3 and Halo 4 and 5 even though Halo 5 is got req purchases it still wasn’t a necessity you could earn the armor by playing warzone and just leveling up but see with Halo infinite there is no way to earn armor from leveling up because the progression system is only unlockable by the battle pass and the battle pass is $10 and the progression system is ridiculously slow
