IMO:
If someone can give me evidence of someone buying a gold pack and then going into war zone and winning because of what they got from that pack then please show me because as far as I’m concerned war zone is a team game and requires a lot more than just a couple cards from a gold pack that you bought with money. You can’t even use everything you got from that gold pack you bought with money in a whole game because the Req energy system doesn’t let that happen.
Lets say you bought a gold pack and got a Mantis from that pack, that’s a really good pack, but I’m sorry to tell you that I can take down that mantis faster than you can buy another gold pack.
I have played plenty of games where members of my fireteam and I have spawned with a card that we got from a gold or silver pack and then within a matter of seconds get killed and then rage, but that’s the risk you take when using that card so you can easily have wasted those 3 dollars you spent.
If you read all the way to here then please don’t think this is a hate post or getting mad at others. This is just my opinion to those who think war zone is Pay to Win and I would be happy to see your arguments as to why it is. Thanks for hanging in there
edit: It looks like a lot of players have different views of what Pay to Win means including myself. Thank you for all the replies and different views that you all have shown its really good to see everyone’s opinion.
To be honest I think it is more of a snowball effect. I’ve played teams of guys who just save good vehicle reqs and then call them in together. I’ve seen enemy teams with 2-3 scorpions out at a time alongside a wraith and a banshee or even a mantis as well. While it’s true that anyone can get these it’s just way easier for people who actually pay for them to get them.
That being said I don’t think it’s pay 2 win in the traditional sense but you do get a much larger advantage by buying the packs. I’m just waiting for BTB though because I just don’t like the idea of war zone as a game mode in the long run.

I can buy a silver pack after 2 matches no problem. And I have tanks and all kinds of bs

Not necessarily. You can still be a pay2win game if you allow a player to buy the top end stuff without completing the prerequisites non-paying players complete to get that same gear. So either pay to earn the best gear or shortcut to hard to earn gear would be pay2win. This however, is not really pay2win, especially since most people I see don’t even use their damn REQ cards in warzone anyway. /sigh

that’s where you and I differ. I’ve only got one wraith across all my req packs, no tanks, weak power weapons and standard ghosts and mongeese
I paid for the game.
I have Xbox Live Gold, no more gold needed.
Same with the silver in Destiny. Its just for a dance.
There is an achievement you get for buying a gold pack…
I will give it to critics of Warzone that the P2W aspect is there, but I will say that it seems to be heavily mitigated by the REQ energy system and the search function that it will match you with other people that have a similar amount/quality of Warzone REQs. Mitigated to the point where it’s quite fair and not by a long shot P2W all together.

You don’t have to buy it with real money to get the achievement.

Oh, then I am thinking of something totally different thanks for the clarification.

Yes it does provide an advantage to the player who dumps more money, they will have faster access to high tier items early launch compared to those who are just using in game means.
it does not guarantee them victory but stop saying it doesn’t cater an advantage to the player who dumps more money into gold packs
It’s not P2W, Sure you can buy things for Warzone. BUT when you die you lose that item and either it’s depleted or some guy just picks your weapon (Or steals your vehicle) and they die too.

Dropped 3$ on a gold pack, unlocked a variant of the SMG that decimates people. never runs out either.
sure someone could use in game points to get the same gold pack, but with the rng chance of it, the player who drops money and points is more likely to unlock better rewards
