Paul Bertone returns to Halo

This is a good step forward that Paul Bertone has returned to Halo

Nice to have another Halo veteran back in the ranks

I’ll give it a few months before his contract expires and 343 doesn’t renew it or bring him into the fold

I can’t be mad if an OG comes back to play.
We just gotta hope that he sticks around and makes an impact.

I hope he can make a impact before his contract runs out and 343 doesn’t renew the contract

Think he’s now technical design director, so hope he’s got long contract, maybe 343 should just track down all the original Halo peeps and hire them to sort out the mess they are in

Paul doesn’t like the predatory microtransaction system; so they cut it…hey, I can dream.

Glad he’s back. Hopefully Marty and the others will return too.

With how much they are trying to get bungie devs to work on the game they should just hire them once the contract runs out like ffs you need employees how about you start hiring those contract workers or renew the contracts instead of letting them go

He was a gameplay designer at Bungie most recently right? Hopefully we can get Halo versions of Destiny raids.

Imagine a ā€œraidā€ with a scarab as the boss. Or a small covenant cruiser… or a very powerful grunt goblin…

Tons of possibilities!

343 will most predictably shut him out and cause Paul to go to Certain Affinity or something.

I don’t think the UI of this game can support it…

I don’t know why they treat contract workers like this. From what I’ve seen Infinite is in the place it is because of staffing issues.

Maybe pay workers? Seems like a good way to get people to stay.

So this is really interesting.

One week, we’ll hear about how it’s really bad news that 343i is laying off people and it’s a sign that the game is failing.

The next week, we’ll see some random Halo Alumni return and people will be like, ā€œWow! Rob Boggo! Good to see them, maybe they can help save this game. :Dā€

but instead of taking it as 343i’s standard operating procedure, instead of seeing it and understanding it as the fact that 343i cycles through pepple, and their layoffs aren’t doomsdays or portents of the end times, but just… How they do things.

It confuses me, that fans haven’t looked at it for what it is.

18 Month long contracts are Microsoft’s limits for temporary employees and other workers.
But if he is employed by 343 or Microsoft, then he is here to stay until he gets let go by higher ups or if he leaves by his own volition.

And i see 343/Microsoft just letting him go once his contract is up

Doubtful.
They are hopefully competent enough to realize that good devs bring good games which brings many players which means more monies.

If always hoped halo would go the route of destiny with it’s PVE. Earning armor and weapons mods based off our play style; the weapon mods would stay in PVE and custom and arena would stay all boots equal start.

But hey a guy could dream

I mean this is the 343 higher ups we’re talking about being competent is asking a bit too much from them at this point

Yes bring back OG halo boyz. It’s like Goku and Vegeta which do 99% of the work. If I had a bulldozer and was going to destroy 343 HQ and Staten or Betrone was standing in the way I would instantly crumble. You could combine Jesus Christ, Superman, Marten Luther King Jr, into one man and I still wouldn’t respect them half as mush as these two Giga chads.

When I played halo for the first time I took an oath On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons…we swore to uphold halo! Even to our dying breath! Those COD boyz would break this oath are Heretics, worthy of neither pity, nor mercy! Even now they use our lords’ creations to broadcast their lies! We shall grind them into dust! Scrape them as excrement from our boots! And continue our march to glorious salvation!

Joseph Staten looked so worn down trying to single handedly save halo. At least he understands halo is better with co-op so he invited Bertone over to play LASO fix the slipspace engine.

Pour one out for the homies boyz. Maybe by 2025 we’ll get a new map

One person isn’t going to fox the terrible mismanagement of the game. People acting like one or two new Bungie developers will change Infinite are just dumb. Nothing will change.

I don’t like to be negative… but the solution isn’t bring in new staff. The staff that’s worked at 343 are skilled people. The game is just bad. The only thing that’ll work is if they scrap the project and start again.
