Patrol case useless?

Back when I used to play halo 5 24/7 I remember this perk working this way:
buying x weapon, depleting the ammo, buying it again, full ammo with extra magazine/bullets etc.

Now I noticed that if you buy it again after depleting the amo it refills normal with no extra bullets, now you have to buy it again with full ammo to have the benefits of the perk, but its kind of nosense

Example: Plasma caster 10 bullets at reserve, 5 loaded in, total 15 bullets.
Now you buy it twice having the first buy full ammo, now you have 25 at reserve, 5 loaded in, total 30.

It is basically just buying the gun again, you can unequip the perk and still having the same total amount of bullets, 2 plasma casters with 15 rounds, or one plasma caster with 30 rounds.

Dont know if it has always been like this or I am remebering incorrectly.

I actually thought it was just increased ammo in loadout weapons.

My opinion, there are more useful armor mods overall.

Patrol Case only gives you ammo for Loadout weapons. It might have worked differently back in the day but I don’t remember as it was so long ago.

Honestly I think the way it currently works is probably much better for multiplayer balancing
