Why the hell won’t players pass the ball to one another. It’s a simple strategy to get the ball moving around the court quicker. You don’t even need headsets, just get yourself in an open space and keep an eye on the ball.
It’s so easy to toss it away rather than just stand there doing nothing. Am I wrong? Are people just ball hogs or just lack common sense?
I don’t know sometimes I find it annoying too they just stand back in the corner as we battle it out and don’t even do anything until like 3 minutes later >_<

It’s harder to pass because the other players doesn’t automatically pick it up, they have to also grab it.

i agree with this reason
i would rather get 56 kills and no scores than get 2 scores and go super negative because i didnt pass or wait for teammates
if i see you in the enemy team spawn i am chucking it
If I get the ball I get flustered and think only to score as quickly as possible before my inevitable slaughter. I’m sure this is the same for a lot of players.

You have to keep in mind that while passing is a viable strategy, if you’re playing with randoms, 8 times out of 10, folks really don’t seem to get the hint. There’s always the possibility of the person you intend to pass the ball to can’t pick it up in time, or they get killed before it lands to them, or the simple interception.
I only pass when somebody has a clear shot at driving it in the hole, and even then, It’s simply safer to just rush it in with your team playing support.

My point is that I don’t think players are thinking of that at all. I don’t think they’re thinking “This isn’t a good time to pass” they’re thinking “gotta score gotta score”
Ok, so im glad a thread was started for this, HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU PASS THE BALL? I can’t seem to pass the ball in either ASSAULT or in GRIFBALL, everytime i think im going to pass it, the ball just drops

Its a Reach strat. They camp and hold the ball thinking they will get a bunch of Req points like back in Reach.
I think it was easier when you auto picked up the ball. I agree, people should pass more but having to pick up the ball like a weapon makes it slightly harder.

You got to jump and press RT Right Trigger if you are playing on Default controls. It’s the fire button to throw.

Awesome, thank you, i think it is quite possible that others are unaware of how to throw the ball as well, and perhaps this is why no one seems to do it
I honestly have barley played with randoms. With grifball I play with 3-4 people and it so much fun, we have develop a couple strats to take care of some issue that might arise. So much fun too because of it being a social playlist

I don’t because more often than not I would make sure I’m clear before picking up the ball or flag in CTF games. Auto pickup doesn’t help cuz then I’m holding a pistol or a ball and get whaled on by a hammer immediately. so I prefer having to pickup the ball or flag manually rather than it doing it right when I touch it.
There’s a lot going on in grifball. You would need headsets to pass the ball. Without communication teammates are either fending off attackers or trying to assist the ball carrier.

Yep, this seems pretty accurate. I always throw the ball down field when I’m about to die but my team is never there. At least it works like a punt and the other team has to take it the full distance.

Exactly, its always better to have the ball away from your goal, no matter what.
