It’s almost impossible to beat players that are in a party when you aren’t. I mean for -Yoinks!- sake, I just matched up against 3 different parties in 3 straight placement matches. You can always tell when players are mic’d up because they’ll usually do three different strategies that sync up perfectly.
For example, in EVERY one of these 3 matches. There was 1 Johnson, 1 Atriox and 1 Shipmaster. The Johnson went Marines and Snipers, The Shipmaster went Ghosts(this is what -Yoinked!- with me the most. UNSC had no counter to scouts except to rush to tech 2 and by that time, your enemy has enough rss to rush to tech 3) and Atriox went JumpBrutes with the mine drop power😑. They start off with a timed attack where they all hit a single player to overwhelm them which is impossible to fight off because solo players don’t have good enough communication to fight them off. In my last game, they stalled for a bit before attacking (they checked an empty base slot. Wasted about 30 seconds doing so) and when they did, Shipmaster let his ghosts die. I go through the teleporter and he already has Wraiths and Marauders while the other guy had like 10 Banshees😑. We had no chance from the getgo…

I agree. This is why I mostly play 1v1. I also feel there needs to be better match making for players with different ranks. More often than not I am paired against players ranked 50+ and I am only rank 22. It makes it very hard when you are playing someone with a lot more experience than you.

From what I’ve been seeing on PC there are already problems with population and this would be made worse by adding playlists that in my opinion, are not absolutely necessary. You could search in team war if you want to play 2s and 3s without a team so that way if you do encounter a coordinated team your rank won’t be affected.

This is a catch 22 because I end up avoiding 2s and 3s matchmaking for the very reason mentioned above. I’m sure there are other players who feel the same. ‘Looking for group’ is a fantastic feature and I have used this several times, but there are times where it is hard to find a group or I just can’t be bothered to spend 15-30mins trying to find a group when I just want to jump on and play.
Couldn’t agree more. I was a beast in HW1. But not in this one. I haven’t played much of HW2 because of the fact I don’t have a team to play with. I haven’t learned how to properly set up bases and armies in HW2. It’s -Yoinking- impossible to learn when you have sweaty tryhards beating you down in less than 15 minutes. They need a seperate playlist for solo players so you don’t run into no lifes who never stop playing.
I agree this would be great, but with the population problems the game is facing I don’t see it happening. It would dramatically increase wait times across the board.

On top of this, my first few placement matches were against Onyxes/Previous top players (versed #1) while I am a measly platinum. They were also in parties. Now, In one of these matches I was able to hold off a rush on myself and a teammate as I had hunters ready knowing they were going to chopper rush. However, they obviously still won in the end. Party vs randoms is not the only problem, matching me against players that were in the NUMBER 1 sport while I have only played the game for around a month is ridiculous.

Any time you open up a new playlist it will divide up the community and create longer search times. Despite xbox having a larger population it will still most likely delay search times. Why would it be absolutely necessary to create separate playlists for party teams when you can just search in team war and not worry about rank or win loss ratios. Ranked 3v3 should always be played with a team competitively and you should expect to encounter competitive teams when searching in ranked.
The player pool is not big enough for solo only games. The same reason why experienced players are teamed with or against noobs. 343i really needs to do something to boost numbers as well satisfy the current players and I feel that more leaders is not enough.

the delay on x1 is negligible at best, i agree PC has a population problem, x1 does not, team war is not guaranteed to be 3v3, and people quit with no consequence… u sound like those fools who said 1v1 blitz had to be removed on x1 cause pc lacks a player base, on x1 takes 1 minute tops to find opponent, and thats after most gave up playin p2w blitz… you’re not gonna win this debate
The “funny” thing is that many times those parties text toxicity after their win against randoms.
Just 2 nights ago me and 2 randoms ( one of those 11 lvl) lost to a party of champions very easy and then they ALL of them texted me gg’s and some other stuff. One of those guys is on this forum obviously pretending the “cool” guy. Low esteem tryharders that need to be defined through a game.

Even games with +1million players on a console avoid adding in game types unless there absolutely needed (or wanted). Also let’s say the game modes are separated. One for party teams and the other for non party teams. Would the non party team playlist also be ranked? What if you end up with less skilled players in that playlist? Would your rank in this playlist have to suffer because you got paired up with someone who isn’t as good at the game? Let’s go ahead and say the non party team playlist is unranked. What’s stopping players from quitting just like in team war? Either way you encounter several problems by splitting up the playlists into these 2 groups. Halo wars 1 was able to accomplish this because they lacked an actual ranked game mode to begin with. If you have a solution to this delema then I’m all for hearing you out.
