Parties vs randoms

I was just on the wrong end of a party vs random game and it sucked.
Come Halo 5 I hope the game designers realize that most players wont hang around if they encounter unfair situations like that on a regular basis.

Oh and hiding the parties is only insulting not a solution.

When the game is finding players, watch the flashes of the blank player cards. Synchronized flashes means that the players are grouped up. So if you see 4 cards all flashing at the same time in Team Slayer, you know they’re a team.

I also agree that rolling solo sucks. My team left after H3 and I’ve been teamless ever since.

What annoys me way more are the Split-screen players.

Seriously, go get your own Xbox.

I always seem to get put in their team and it’s basically a guaranteed loss. Online Multiplayer should NOT have split screen option. Let them play campaign or spartan ops.

They are also most likely the ones to stay after the round ends, forcing everyone else to leave or you have to play with them again.

I know exactly what you say.
Thats why we need ranked and social playlist. Removing splittscreen is a bad idea, but they should only be in social playlists.

Didnt know that thanks.

A lower population makes it difficult to find balanced matches, unfortunately.

Trust me. It’s not fun to be on the winning side either.

Split screeners can be very annoying, that is, if they’re on your team, if they’re not then it’s all very fun. But it’s extremely annoying how the guest can make your team lose by going 2-27. They are just a liability to the team that they’re on :frowning:

It does seem to be rare for split screen players to contribute to the team effort.

This.

Really, it’s more the population than anything. Matches probably would be fair if there were simply more people at the varying CSRs to keep matches even. 50s have to play 20s and 30s because all the other 50s are either not in the playlist or already in a game.

Why in God’s name would I buy 2 XBox’s and therefore 2 TVs to play Halo with someone sitting right next to me? Someone who lives with me? Do we need one in every room? Should I Bronze them?
I’m assuming, based on the Gamertag, you’re fancy enough to buy all of the XBox’s you want, so I should probably stop yelling at you, your Excellency.

(I’m joking, BTW, I actually don’t split screen online. But I don’t see why others can’t)

Yeah, the post said one thing, but the post was actually about something different. Guests are probably playing as guests because they don’t own the game themselves, so they aren’t very good at the game at all. The problem FancyCharles mentioned was that guests are playing in ranked games, which really isn’t balanced or fair. There’s nothing wrong with playing with guests, but they should be isolated to social playlists like in Halo 3 and Reach.

Gotcha.

They should simply lock those playlists if a party tries to join. “Unless you’re a super elitist halo enthusiast, get lost”

Again, a joke.

Well it might also be harder to find matches.

my brother and I play split screen and half the time either him or I are between 1st and 5th place on whatever team we happen to be on. just give the guest a few games before he can start to pull his own weight or try playing flood or big teams. Also that thing about the flashing cards is some good info I’m gonna have to watch out for.

This, is only half right. There has been times where I get a player and a guest. These two, in one game, did so well together I didn’t even notice he was splitscreen.

Guest went 25/8 and the “Host” for the guest was 20/6.

I didn’t do so well that game but was pleased with the win and my large amount of assists and distraction medals. It’s also good rolling regen field every game to save teammates.

The fact that you remember this incident and even their scores shows you how rare it is . 99% of the time the guest loses the game for you and I am sure the “host” guy also suffers because his screen is smaller and they probably lag a little bit more than usual. Also seems the game overall gets laggier when there are split-screeners on.

I played against a team of 1 host and 3 guests once. Not a single one of them made a kill. Good for my stats but makes for a really boring match.

Yeah me and my team of people that I usually play with are all ranked around 50 in BTB and we regularly go up against guests and lower skill levels and rarely ever lose or even get challenged because of it. I agree with the guy above who said being on the winning side isn’t fun either. It honestly gets really boring winning like 20 games in a row by 50+ kills.

The population is just too pathetic for regularly balanced matchmaking anymore.

This is a problem as old as Halo matchmaking IIRC. We can hope halo 5 will make improvements, but you really need a big population to make it work. I personally have accepted that this might forever be a part of Halo. But I don’t find it as annoying as some.

Restricting parties to social only doesn’t really make sense to me, either. Even if you apply it to split-screen parties, I don’t understand why a gamer who has friends over cannot play competitively. Doesn’t sound fair to me.

most of the time i play alone and i have no problem if i get ranked with casual players BUT when i spawn in the map and get instantly ‘spawn trapped’ by teamed up kd whores, what am i supposed to do. the best i can do is leaving as i dont wanna smash my controller against the wall. and as h4 gets older this problem seems to grow and grow sometimes i think i am the only one who is not teaming up with others…
leaving these matches is nothing special for me anymore, even if i sometimes get the 60 minutes matchmaking ban it’s totally worth it !

I blame the low population, there’s not enough players for the proper teams to be made. I’m pretty sure the system just takes random players doesn’t matter rank of any kind and put them in the game.

If halo 4 had a higher population I can see this issue resolved but unfortunately its not going to happen.

(I didn’t know about the blinking thing, thank for the info whoever said that :))

Not exactly. Player cards who are flashing together are just typically players that have stuck together from a previous game. They could be a team, but they could very well be a group or randoms that decided to stick together for a couple games.

I’ve gone in to BTB as a single and stayed with the same group for a few games. I’m sure that our cards were probably flashing in unison from being grouped together in the previous game. But we were no means a team.

The only problem I’ve had recently is getting matched up with some considerably higher players that really had no reason to be in the game. CSR 20+ vs the rest of us. (SCR > 10) Happened 2 games in a row … wasn’t very fun.
