Is there any chance that we could have this addressed? I played 2 games today, and both were completely miserable as I was hit with the situation above. I get that they want to get games together, but honestly, I couldnt even stand to continue. Given the choice between being totally manhandled by partied players and not playing, id honestly rather not play. It only gets worse when teammates start dropping out cuz they know the game is gonna blow, and having not quit in a VERY long time, i dont wanna loose my extra cR…
Can we just see some sensibility in MM again? I dont think its rocket science here. Just common sense. I didnt have this problem nearly as badly in Halo 2 or 3, and Im not trying to knock reach here, just want matches to be fair and fun. I dont call losing repeatedly to superior teams fun. I call it incentive to not play, and not buy more games.
I didn’t even read what you wrote in your post, just judging from your title I know I can completely and utterly agree with you. This issue will most likely be adressed in at least H4.
this. reach has done a better job of matching parties and randoms with their respected groups than any other halo. The issue still stands though, parties v randoms should never happen.
5 man teams should play 5 man teams and 2 2 man teams should play a 3 man team and a one man or 2 2 man teams.
The main reason parties and randoms play in the first place is because it speeds up the search times, that said, Ill wait a minute for a good game rather than 15 seconds for spawnkillers or kids that might as well be afk.
I understand how you feel about this, and is why I now only play and search in MM with some type of party.
I played for a long time as a Random, and hated going against full parties, and getting my -Yoink- handed to me over and over again, with no help from my team in anyway. In fact, most of them would either quit, or run and hide off somewhere.
There is only one course of action to take…play with friends, even if it’s just one other person, and talk to one another during the game and work it, and strike back. You will have a much better time and experience.
same.
I used to play as a random when my friends were on black ops from nov 2010 to about march 2011; when I got my team together, our wins and my k/d dramatically increased. Plus its just fun to joke around with friends.
When mw3 came out I was ready to be a random again, but mw3 only lasted for 1 week and everyone came back to reach.

I would argue that far more people search randomly or with another person than in a full party, be it a team of 4 in Slayer, 5 in Squad, or 8 in BTB. If 343i were to make it so full parties matched only full parties, and not randoms after a couple minutes, it would take those full groups tens of minutes to find games. That is not the solution. People shouldn’t be punished with long wait times for searching with a group of friends.
I search often as a random and sometimes with a full team, and, I’ll admit, it sucks to be roflstomped by a good full team. I still don’t think the MM system should match full parties with full parties only. You just kind of have to suck it up, then.
And, not all full parties are good. Go to the Invasion playlist right now and behold the groups of awful players inhabiting that playlist. Grab the Banshee and go to town.

while that is true squads has 1000+
btb has 7000+
slayer has 10000+
I doubt it would take thaaaat long to find a game, I would imagine 2 min max.
Squads already does an excellent job of making fun competitive games, when I search in groups of 5 we get decent kids in groups of 5.
The matching system could always do with being improved.
However, matching parties w/parties can become an issue when you get low play-list population. Beyond searching time, not every team that forms consists of high tier players. The probable loss of communication and the advantages it provides is an accepted risk of going in random in the first place. IMO the problem is good parties beating up randoms of decidedly lower skill than the team. I’ve seen terrible teams lose to randoms and close matches between decent teams and randoms. Good teams are going to win a lot and win hard by definition. It’d be nice to see good teams matched with good teams, and good matches consistently overall, but if the population isn’t there to support that the system does what it can to keep games moving.

I think that’s more of a result of that playlist having a small population with a higher percentage of that being full teams. I stay out of that playlist when searching alone even though it’s one of my favorites. It’s almost a guaranteed beating if you’re a random against a competent team in that playlist.

It they would take the highest skill level of the party (example level 30) on the party Side then match them with randoms (level 25 to 30), then it would not be so bad.

I saw the last game you are talking about and that was a bad match and you did the right thing by quiting if you did not want to play that. While I understand your desire not to play and why, three players decided they were going to play the hand delt to them and I salute them for their unrelenting desire to fight and playing the rest of the game even though five of their other “teammates” decided to quit. Some of the best games I every had was with a few players that are left after a mass quiting. Perhaps if you had not quit after going negative one kill, you and those that decided to stay, could have had a game to remember.

The number of players in those games allowed for a more consistent matches and just wait, you think its bad now? When the TU hits that list it is going to get worse and the AA people use to defend themselves are going to be weakend against a 15% more accurate opponent. Troubled times are ahead for that playlist and what you experienced today is going to look like a walk in the park.

Lol, its going to be the same TU or not, kids will still get destroyed. Trueskill working alright.

So you think the TU is going to result in a population stabilization in BTB?
Here is my prediction, after a stable slow decline in population in BTB in part because of the situation the OP was about, the TU is going to perpetuate the problem by allowing the even more full party marauders to destroy even more efficiently and the lessor players are going to gravitate to other playlist. I seem to remember a time when the BTB playlist would consistently match TS’s population and currently it appears to only draw about 2/3 and seem to be on the decline. It will have a solid bump in population to see what the TU is all about and within a month or two it will move down to about 1/2 of whatever the TS playlist population is.

It will most likely stay the same, Like the other playlist that got updated.
But its all the same in the end, It works both ways. They can also defend themselves easier, and the people they are playing against has the same nerfed armor ability as others.
