So, have the new patch, saw this note:
> Made an update to improve party stability after completing a matchmaking game
When playing with my friends, if the party leader backs out from a matchmaking search to restart or change playlists, the party does not come with him. This occurs 100% of the time.
At this point, this is the most annoying bug in the matchmaking system for us.
They said that was going to be fixed in the last two updates, but it still hasn’t. I see no reason to trust the patch notes from here on out.
Party functionality hasn’t changed one bit for me.
Still have to do a hard reset to get everybody in the same party.
Still takes longer than it should to find a game.
Still disbands the party when the leader backs out of a game.
No offense but this update doesn’t feel like it did a damn thing.

I’m able to find games with my party much more easily (still slower than solo, but it at least works), and I am not having to reset the game as frequently after matches to get the party to be able to rejoin.
But yeah… clearly a long ways to go still. I just wish they’d fix this issue with parties not staying together, because as has been pointed out - we’ve had two patch notes seemingly aimed at this, yet there’s no improvement.
This is the most annoying thing about the entire game.

If it does disband you, you must all quit halo from dashboard and restart to avoid the non-joining issue.
Every time this happens you all need to quit and restart to try again I mean^
Its clear at this point that there’s a situation where this whole lobby UI system was coded in a fashion that was, unknowingly at the time, the totally wrong way to write the code for that. Now they’re stuck trying to put band -Yoink!- on it. Too late to go back and redo it all now. Even the 4v4/max party 4/ lobby max 10 thing is definitely just pure BS accidental-ness. Theres no way it possibly makes any sense, not one bit, that this was to improve speeds or anything else. They would have made max party size 5 and even then, makes no friggin’ sense at all from an IT standpoint
DISBANDS PARTY ALL THE -Yoinking!- TIME WHEN BACKING OUT OF MATCHMAKING.
ONE OF THE MOST ANNOYING BUGS EVER.
