It was neat. A sniper counterpart is needed for sniper match loadouts I guess.
Beam rifle was beautiful, the speed that you could fire the first couple of shots and then burn your hand, aahh
Really hoping that the watering gun-assist machine-Focus Rifle does not return and that the Beam Rifle does!
The Beam Rifle was just the Sniper Rifle in blue clothing. It had to go for the sake of redundancy.
I’d much rather them just buff the Focus Rifle with much higher damage, and headshot capability after shield-drain.
And then nerf the reticle size, aim assist, and give it a much faster overheat to compensate for the damage.
It wiould become more of a Sniper-style weapon, but behave completely unlike the human rifle. Firing in extremely short bursts (due to much faster overheat), requiring headshots, and skilled pacing to kill effectively. But being a real power weapon in the right hands, and all but useless in the hands of a scrub.
The beam rifle was no where close to the Bolt style…competitive and casual the beam rifle had it’s place in halo and in the Convenant forces.

I actually really like the Focus Rifle. It’s not a slayer, it’s a depleter. But at the same time, it’s lethal in the right hands. Catch a target out in the open and rip through them. Or light them up and assist your team in killing them.
The Focus Rifle was never meant to replace the Particle Beam Rifle. The OHK sniper weapon was the Human Sniper in Reach, there wasn’t really a need for an equivalent. The Focus Rifle fits the long-range support role.
one of my favorite weapons. I miss it as well, although the focus rifle is pretty neat overall.
I wouldn’t mind to see the beam rifle again, I liked using it when I can’t find a human sniper rifle, the model wasn’t to my liking, but it wasn’t annoying beam weapon like the focus rifle.
I think the Focus Rifle was made as a way to nerf the jackal snipers in campaign.
It’s hard to make them fire half a beam rifle shot, but it is easy to make them fire short bursts from the focus rifle.
