Partial Open World Like Arkham

I loved what I saw in the gameplay demo and it hinted at the larger game structure. Much like Arkham Asylum or BioShock, it seems as though there are “sections” of open world that you can freely traverse, but there might be some barrier in place before gaining access to more of the map. I’d love that kind of semi-free roam structure with The Chief as the lead protagonist again. While it might not be like GTA or Red Dead, it could still feel expansive, especially if there is variety in the terrain of each section. Curious to hear the thoughts of others.

Yeah I love single mission style games, but only when those missions are short. With Halo I find some of the missions to be off putting because I know it will take me an hour or longer, especially on legendary first time around. Some of them you can run through as fast as you can or use glitches to do them quickly, but I don’t really want to do them like that.

Especially now I have far less time to play, a pick up and play style campaign is much more my taste. Would love it if it is open world with sections to visit to progress the story as well as some side mission style bits. I think being able to upgrade Master Chief to the point by the end he feels much more like a super soldier and take on more dangerous enemies would be great. Basically the way they rebranded God of War was perfect for me. Still a great game but very different to what came before, story was elevated massively as a result.

I hadn’t considered an upgrade system for Chief. That would be awesome. And yes, God of War is a great example of what I’m looking for in a new, revitalized Halo.

The way I’m thinking about the Infinite’s campaign at the moment is that is going to be a much bigger ODST.
