I hope you’re not trying to make her into a likeable character, 343. So far, she’s been a -Yoink- to almost everyone she’s met.
Yeah she’s an Egghead.
I didn’t mind her in the campaign, mostly because she was barely there, but she is seriously getting on my nerve in the Ops
Yeah! Her and Miller are a couple of tools. If your going to keep them in the story, at least sort their personas out first. Palmer is an arrogant, rude female dog. I would like to see how she holds out against promethians, instead of being a jerk over the com.
Miller is just as bad. He is a complete idiot and reminds me of someone that’s slighty mentally challenged. Some of the things he says are just ridiculous. “That means the bad guys will keep coming”, NO -Yoink-!
The fact they bully Halsey around like that frustrates me also. She saved humanity. She made the Spartans what they are now. She is the only one that could save chief/cortana. And they treat her like that?!
Rant over/
> Yeah she’s an Egghead.
After the last two episodes I can really understand her lack of care for “eggheads”. The science guys from Infinity are REALLY stupid. Taking base defenses offline just to run another experiment, activating ancient devices that they have no idea of the function (and they die for it too), and their antics in the current episode. I’m growing to despise them too.
I don’t mind Miller too much, reminds me a bit of Mickey from ODST just a little younger. I don’t even mind Palmer either, bit of a hardass but she has to be when she’s running Spartans like Majestic team for instance (DeMarco).
> Yeah she’s an Egghead.
A hot egghead indeed…
i think shes hot and i wish she was real

This opens up some interested possibilities
Her being augmented and all…
She would probably kill a regular chap doing the dirty

Still, her being a hardass ALL THE TIME isn’t going to get her any fans. Also, its the bullying Halsey that probably annoys most everyone. I mean…this is basically Master Chief’s mom she’s bullying, an old woman who had her hand in stopping the Covenant and a person who’s been characterized so much.
So, I’m not the only one to notice what -yoinks- the Spartan IVs are?
Spartan IIs - the only ones we’ve ever really seen ingame are Master Chief and Jorge in Halo Reach. Both solid, disciplined and intimidating SOBs.
Spartan IIIs - We see a bunch of these in Reach and although they’re a more idiosyncratic bunch they’re still tough, disciplined, and dedicated.
Spartan IVs - Now these guys are just a bunch of yahoos in power armor. In Halo 4 we see Spartan IVs perform absolutely shoddily ingame as soldiers, and in the cutscenes they’re portrayed as undisciplined, insubordinate, unprofessional -yoinks- with an IQ in the single digits. They’re just jarheads. They’re meant to be the finest humanity has to offer, elite shock troopers who are silent ghosts on the battlefield, working either as a slick, well-oiled machine in a squad or as fearsome one-man-armies when alone.
And so far, they haven’t been portrayed this way at all - especially not in Spartan Ops, where they’re all fist-bumping bros apart from one who demonstrates her “leadership” skills through sarcasm and anti-intellectual mutterings.
…I don’t even.

I an imagine that’s why Halsey said that ONI/UNSC’s mistake was just considering SPARTANS like an ordinary Humans, I know she said “as hardware” and “tools” but it’s the same idea, therefore the craptastic Spartan-IVs. I’m sure there’s a few good turnouts but it seems Infinity left with the worst…then again her first Captain was Del Rio so um yeah.
The new Spartans are just ODSTs with augmentation and better armor. ODSTs weren’t as professional as the original Spartans. The real military is similar. I was in the 82nd Airborne and 90% of the people in there are unprofessional children. We weren’t nicknmaed the “Athletic Alcoholics” for nothing. Imagine taking a bunch of them and making them into Spartans. You’d have bad personalities in a position that should have professionalism and military dedication to it’s finest.
Yeah, Palmer’s an -Yoink-. I hate her as well as the Spartan IV’s. Except for Thorne, he’s the only one I can take seriously. I agree with everything Batou667 said.
I really hope they’re not going to rely on these guys to make up the bulk of Halo 5’s characters… They better bring in Blue Team, Lord Hood and The Arbiter. Then we’re good!
I like her. She’s an interesting character and there seems to be more to her than they’ve let on. For example, her looking down on scientists, it almost comes across as an insecurity and that she feels they’re a burden on the battlefield. I also crack a little smile whenever she talks down on Miller or DeMarco. Miller is the most annoying character in the game, hell, he’d be the most annoying in the series if Sgt Forge didn’t exist. Not a fan of DeMarco either.
I think the people who genuinely hate Palmer are missing the point: you’re supposed to hate her. She’s arrogant, rude, and unproven (to the player) in the battlefield, yet she’s the one “in charge”.
I saw someone comment before about how appalled he was at how “disrespectful” Palmer was to Chief, but that’s purposeful. She believes herself as good or better than him, being a Spartan IV- the “newest and best” version so far.
Basically, if you hate Palmer, that’s good. It means the writers did their job right.
I just want her in the thick of things as well for once, then she could be all arrogant and stuff…
The dialog sounds like it was written by high school students for high school students. It’s childish and terrible. It’s ridiculous to think professional soldiers would act that way. Another 343i fail.

Yeah, she’s the Raiden of the series (MGS reference). The whole point of him was that he wasn’t as interesting or likeable as Snake, everyone had a big hissy fit about how bad he was compared to Snake, not realising that that was the whole point. Strange thing is, I actually like both characters. They actually have a lot of depth.

The writing is lame. The scientists are written as idiots, Palmer a jerk, and the spartans a bunch of frat boys.
You’re just an Egghead, shut up and don’t touch anything. Your out of your comfort zone, let the Spartan handle the rough stuff. Can’t have you break any bones now can we?
Crimson, deal with science junk later, you have Covenant drop pods conveniently falling from the sky.
Miller, we have to figure out how the hinge-heads drop pods without a ship in the air so Crimson can blow them out of the sky.
Crimson, activate the switch to set off another pair of switches you need to flip in order to fire the the Anti Air guns. After that, I’ll make a Waypoint right into a Promethean ambush.
Good hunting Crimson.
