I understand that this IS a business, and that DLC is common nowadays, but don’t do it. Have DLC armor instead. Have just a basic few armor sets and have the rest be payed DLC.

Or you know…give us a lot of awesome armor but still make DLC armor, skins and wep skins.
But what if the on-disc multiplayer maps get boring?
Then give maps for free.
> But what if the on-disc multiplayer maps get boring?
Micro-transactions (did I spell that right?) open the door for free maps.
Or they could maybe focus on the core of the game. Get that right first because they obviously didn’t in H4 and then go from there.

Exactly. Look at League of Legends, its a free game its still rolling with servers to pay and whatnot. The micro-transactions/ads/merchandise are enough to keep the game marching.
New Free DLC keeps the game “fresh”. Makes players return.
In League of Legends that new content is champions, in Halo it should be maps.
I don’t like map packs that much. All people do is complain about them and ask why there isn’t any way to play them. And then they tell people online not to buy them because you hardly get to play them. Genius.
Might as well drink poison ^^
But then again, map packs are a way to get money. And all other dlc too.
I agree, payed map DLC just needlessly divides the community. Microtransactions FTW!
Well… i think it should be obvious by now that DLC map packs are counter productive, they make players switch to another game (most players anyways) and instead of getting more money you ended with less players which would have stayed for new content and new armor/aesthetics which they possibly would have payed for, halo has died over and over again with payed map packs, its time they learn their lesson

Knowing MS, Halo 5 will most likely have Micro-transactions and not-free map packs.
Borderlands 2 is already doing it.
Every character has micro-transactions (skins)
There are 2 characters that you can purchase (Gaige the Mecromancer and Krieg the Psycho)
There are 2 extra levels-packs.
There are 4 map packs
And there is (i think) 5 small map packs.
All of the above cost money.

That is also crummy Gearbox. Bioware got away with 3-4 free dlc that added chars weps and maps due to micro-transactions.
The word ‘Payed’ in the title hurts my eyes so much.
*Paid
I don’t actually haven’t anything to say on the topic, I just felt the need to correct that.
Paid DLC worked for H2, & H3 just fine. Reach did okay with it. Halo 4 suffered because the first map pack was awful, also MP really wasn’t what people wanted in the first place. People don’t want to pay for bad things so made the dlc good and you won’t have a divided community. People that don’t pay for dlc most likely aren’t that into the game in the first place.
Please keep microtransactions away from Halo. With -Yoink!- it’s just a money move.
You can say what you want about Spartan Ops, but it was something new for free every week - and most of all, it ways easier implemented to the game.
On the other hand look at Forge Island - it’s free as well. But there are still just a few people who have downloaded it. So you might have to overthink the delivery system. Bring new free maps via regular updates? To assure everyone gets it.
Well, and if maps were really great and there would be a permanent DLC playlist or a new matchmaking system that gives me the opportunity to actually play those maps, then I’m willing to pay.

ahmen. plus whatever happened to earning your trade. al achievements for the sword. DLC armor is stupid because even the earning of a hard to attain armor keeps people playing. remember hyabasa, recon. dlc armor destroys that

1,2,3 did just fine. people buy when the game is good
plus its bad when there is awesome armor that you can only buy instead of earn
I bought armor.
I did not buy map packs. I will not buy map packs. If H5 requires map packs for ranked play, I will not play ranked games. I will complain about it incessantly on the forums. I will hope that others follow me.

sorry but you sir supporta stupid system map packs are actually worth buying. buying armor makes it worthless because you’re supposed to earn it.

DLC armor doesn’t destroy that. It’s not like you can buy unloackable armor instead of taking the effort to unlock it. Micro-transaction items and unlockable items have, so far, been separate.
