I was wondering whether anyone had bought the elite controller and decided that they didnt like playing with the pAddles. I just ordered one but im not sure how i’ll like it. Is the controller excluding the paddles enough of a difference over the regular xbox controller that it wouldnt be a waste of money if i turned out to not like using the paddles?
IMO, I don’t think its worth it without the paddles. The only major changes without them are the trigger locks, and the customizable joysticks. You can also rewire button functions but you can’t add any specific button combos without the paddles.
I have one and I like it a lot. It did take me a while to learn how to use a lighter grip on my controller to accommodate the paddles. Just keep practicing and you’ll get used to it.
I can’t play without the paddles now. This is what I feel a controller should be like. I mean I know TONS of pros that play with Scufs with paddles. It’s basically like playing with bumper jump on but with default button layout.
I only play with two paddles though. Left paddle is for jump and right paddle for thrust.
Yes they’re useful to me. I actually have my two left and right paddles as my aim down/fire buttons instead of my triggers. I made my left trigger a nade throw, and my right trigger the dash. It suits me quite fantastically really.
I have a scuf so I’m not 100% sure how it conpares to the elite controller other than paddle placement but the paddles are definitely something you’ll need to get used to. You’ll almost need to force yourself to use them for a while until using them instead of the buttons until using the paddles just comes naturally. The trigger stops are also quite nice but if you shorten them too much you’ll get sparatic fire and be unable to charge the plasma pistol/caster and incineration cannon. With a scuf, even with the trigger stops set to the largest trigger draw distance possible, I’m unable to use the previously mentioned weapons unless if I switch my grips for the standard handle pieces. I do recommend at least trying to use the paddles though because I don’t find that the trigger stops are enough to spend a lot of money on a controller for.

it’s hard in the beginnig, ti takes some hours of gameplay to get used to the baddles and to like them
