I live in CT and have 500Mbps download, 25Mbps upload. In game if I play alone (not with my friend). I seem to always be on a server that shows my ping as 18-25 which to me would be about the same ping as any server I run speed tests to the NYC/NJ area with.
All of this is fine and great but I am constantly getting packet loss, sometimes 4-5 times per match and it lasts ten seconds. When this happens though the ping isn’t changing and I have no visible problems on any other web applications (youtube, discord, etc). I am a newer halo player (never was into them as a teen) but really enjoying this one. The only thing ruining my experience is dealing with the laggy matches on my PC lately. It was much better before the came “launched” it feels like.
Well with the ping game option enabled it tells you when you are getting packet loss. You could run a tracert to the servers in windows cmd prompt if you knew the IP or hostname
I’ve noticed this as well but only just started for me a few days ago. Not sure if there was another update or not but it wasn’t like this from when multiplayer launched. This is the only game where I encounter “packet loss”. Not even speed tests show I’m losing any packets of data. My guess is 343 knows the servers are crap and are trying to hide it by trying to blame our own connections. Sorry, my ping is always around 9ms and always 0% packet loss. But in Halo Infinite I do? Nah, I don’t think so. Even in my line of work I know how networking works and it would happen all over and not just a single game.
