Owen-B096’s Team on Meridian

I don’t think this topic has been covered before, and thought now would be a good time to do so (considering the lore drought). So let’s get on with it.

One thing that’s bothered me is who is Owen-B096’s team that he drops with on Meridian (in Battle Born)? We learn that when they were dropping in their drop pod, it was under heavy fire, and he got split from them (and caused him injuries). But it begs to the question of who were the people in this team?

To throw a few ideas out there; it could be a full team of Spartan-IIIs, maybe ODSTs, or perhaps just some regular Marines. I find the latter to be the least likely option considering they would more likely drop in via Pelican instead of being dropped in by a drop-pod. I also would really like to see it being other Spartan-IIIs just to expand on their lore a bit more, but I guess it’ll be left up in the clouds for now. But let me know what you think!

Never really thought about that tbh. Given that he is a III, I would faster think he may have been part of a Spartan fireteam and was the sole survivor. Also quite plusable, considering he is an ONI Spartan, he could have simply been taken out of the regular program due to reasons and used for asset recovery and scorched earth tactics, which he said is his thing in the book. So he could have been with other non augmented ONI operatives on the drop who either died or went on different missions. We do know how ONI loves to compartmentalise, to the point where deaths could be faked.

It was never really mentioned that his team died, it was just on entry they were separated by heavy fire, and how he ended up sustaining his minor injuries (as he would describe them). I also don’t think he was directly under ONI’s jurisdiction at the time of Battle Born, but I may be mistaken.

I do still fancy the idea of the team being Spartan-IIIs over any other team (as that was very common throughout the HCW examples include S-III Red, Gauntlet, and Echo Teams with Noble having 5/6 Spartan-IIIs). It most definitely wouldn’t be ONI operatives dropping as they would prefer to be taken to the surface via a Pelican or Prowler due to the lower risk involved, but I guess we’ll need to wait and see if it’s ever expanded on… Finger’s crossed I guess!

Again very true, it’s never said the team died, I just presumed that so my bad. I like the idea of a Spartan team as well but like we saw in the kilo 5 and babysitter expanded media, spartans can be paired with non augmented troops. Fingers crossed for some expanded lore.
