The new animation for the overshield… requires you to actually USE it. Meaning, you can pick it up, but then you have to USE it after picking it up, giving you a chance to die, even after picking it up… good… or bad?
So its like the bubble shield or the equipment from H3?
Im fine with it. Can make it more situational.
Hmm you sure you can pick it up then use it later. To me it seems that unless you hold x you don’t pick it up, like weapons.

Are you serious? I leave a link to the evidence, and you skip over it to comment. Cool story bro.

It clearly says “hold to use” you use it there and then. You can’t carry it with you like equipment from halo 3. Its effectively used the same way as a flag or oddball. They state this in the article that you linked.
Why did 343 do this? Sure, it’s a minor change but there is no need for this and it’s going to get real annoying. Do you remember the short animation in Halo 4 campaign whenever you pushed a button or pulled Cortana from a terminal? It got very annoying and it seemed to last forever. It’s not just about Halo either. I hate those animations in every game. I don’t want to lose control of my character just to watch them activate a switch or open a door. I can forgive these in campaign but it’s really out of place in multiplayer. Whatever, I’m still going to play this game so maybe it won’t be that bad anyway.

I agree. It very clearly says hold to use just as if you were picking up a weapon or the oddball.

You are incorrect. The player did not pick it up. He approached it and had to hold X to use it. Had he not, it would have remained there for another player to use.

A leading theory is that 343 added it to prevent people rushing to Overshield/Power Up spawns and running through it and then running away. Now if they want the Overshield/Power Up, they have to stay for a second to activate it thus making them more vulnerable to getting shot.

Now it is you glossing over comments and prove statements just to comment. Its an instant use pick up like the flag. As in, im going to stand here until i get shot and then pick it up
I like it. I’m glad that powerups aren’t balls of magic anymore, too. Makes you vulnerable while you use it, so you can’t just grab it when you’re low and tank.
Makes sense especially when we have sprint in the game.
