Overshield Question

Hey guys, I’m running a tournament in mid June, and have been testing settings for it for a few days now. The one place where I’m confused is the overshield. Some gametypes the overshield is single layered, and others it’s double layered. Now when I have been testing out the tournament gametype, I can only get double layer overshields.

So my question is this… Is there a way to adjust the amount of shielding the overshield gives a player, or is it just some sort of bug that dictates wether you get x1 or x2 overshields? I’ve tried everything I could think of, and nothing’s working :\

halp plz!! >.<!!

Is this ordnance Overshield or generic Recharge to Overshield? If the latter, make sure you only have it set to 2x Overshields. If it’s Ordnance, then ???

“generic recharge to overshield?” Not sure I follow you, unless you think I’m talking about the normal shields? I’m talking about the ordinance drop of the green overshield. The confusing thing about x2 overshield in Halo 4, is that the first and second layer of overshield are the exact same shade of green, so you can’t visibly tell how much overshield is left on. In past Halos, the overshield layers would change colors from green, to purple, to orange, etc. so that it was easy to tell how much shielding you still had on.

The x2 vs x1 overshield is noticeable in team throwdown where in CTF the overshield is x1, as opposed to slayer where it’s x2. The only way to tell is to just test it out for yourself, and you’ll definitely notice a difference in shielding, should you do a comparison. It’s really odd, and I’m not sure how this was achieved.

It is something only 343 can control sadly and IIRC, it is map specific.

I believe Abandon, Dispatch & Simplex all feature a double layered Overshield, other than that you’ll have to stick to single layer.

Yea I was just about to post something similar. I googled this kind of question, and came across an old Halo council forum thread where Bravo said the double overshield was a behind the scenes quick fix for the throwdown playlist. The x2 overshield is gametype specific, not map specific. So if you use AGL v3 settings on any map with an overshield, it will be x2 overshields. For whatever reason, the overshield is only single layered in throwdown’s CTF variant.
