Overshield / Active Camo Equipment

We learned from the ViDoc that both Overshield and Active Camo powerups are now used like equipment items. They are stored on your person and if you die without activating them, they drop on the ground, a la Halo 3 style.

How does everyone feel this will affect competitive gameplay? I know for most it was always annoying to have an engagement with someone where you had the upper hand, only for your opposition to pull out a regen or bubble shield and completely negate the fact that you had the better shot or team coordination.

To look at the other side of this, it does look as though the animation time for activating the powerups does seem slow like Halo 5 was, maybe even slower.

Another major concern I have is, if you pick up the powerup and hold on to it for 2 minutes without activating it (not that I see someone surviving that long, but it’s theoretical) and there’s a 2 minute static respawn timer, does a 2nd one respawn in its place? Regardless if the timer is static or dynamic, it will lead to all kinds of issues, as the team that uses the powerup will have full understanding of the timer if it’s activated when out of sight of the opposing team and thus be at a constant advantage.

I feel like it’s not too different then camping by the overshield, start engaging in combat then waking through it for the advantage of the firefight.

I guess it depends on how they go about having it in the game. Is it going to be in those ODST weapon lockers that drop from the sky at the same or different location?

I was more ok with the outcome of that style of engagement, because it was something that I could anticipate happening ahead of time. It was a visual on my screen and if they were closer to the powerup than I was, I could at least inform my teammates that ahead of time and prepare accordingly to take them down, perhaps if a teammate had a plasma pistol in their back pocket in order to remove it or decided to turn their guns on them with me to pelt it down faster.

However, lets say overshield was already picked up and you aren’t aware that they have it in their possession at all, like a regen or a bubble shield. This is something that you cannot account for and is completely unexpected, and absolutely breaks the flow of the gameplay. In this scenario, you almost always lose out, whereas in the previous engagement, you might come out with a trade or at least have the powerup burned and less effective in that situation.
