Overseeing Anyone's Case for The Flood's Return

A lot of fans are eager to see the return of Halo’s most infamous enemy, the Flood, in Halo Infinite or other possible sequels. A lot of theories, speculative fiction, and ideas have been thrown out as to why and how they should return, but in the end it’s all still wishful thinking until we get 100% concrete evidence.

Does anyone have a unique take on the Flood and their (possible) inevitable return, and why do you think so? I personally believe the setting and story has moved past the need for them as a central villain, but their overall impact on the stakes of the story our sorely missed.

Halo infinte could start hinting towards them during the game for a later time so the new threat doesn’t get outshined by a classic enemy, although it would also make sense for their return with the palace of pain on zeta Halo, perhaps mendicant bias would have something connected to that in some way. Who knows, but it would be interesting to see them or have them mentioned especially on that ring with it’s history

So I actually wouldn’t mind the flood returning. I would love to see how they look in infinite, maybe a new design, and obviously having better graphics. Seeing as chief is on Zeta Halo, I wouldn’t be surprised if we run into them eventually.

Imo, there’s a reason for Halo CE’s initial success that no one really talks about. Halfway through the game it goes from a normal sci-fi shooter, and turns into a zombie survival shooter. And zombie shooters are generally pretty fun.

So yea, I want a little zombie survival sprinkled in with my sci-fi

If the Flood return then they need to follow the lore of the Precursors. Humanity still needs to undergo their greatest test to be responsible for the mantle.

It’s on zeta halo so it’s likely they could come up at some point in the campaign. I definitely think they will at least appear in DLC

The flood will undoubtedly return. It may not be in the release (first part) of the campaign… but they are coming.

I doubt we’ll see them in Infinite’s main campaign at release. 343 likely wouldn’t want their return to outshine their new enemy as the Banished, and I’m ok with that.
Maybe we’ll come across some Forerunner labs with Flood forms in containers, similar to Cold Storage, that would be pretty cool.

Perhaps the first major campaign DLC/expansion could be an FPS version of Awakening the Nightmare of sorts?

Yup that’s what I was thinking. They’ll probably release them as a dlc or expansion which I think is fine.
