Everyone can discuss the various flaws of Halo 4 and what failed it, but I believe the main issue is overpowered Spartans. In Halo 4, Your Spartan (and somewhat Chief) can effectively win battles without vehicles and mobile turrets; mostly due to sprinting, spawning with plasma grenades, and an over abundance of power weapons. Why would I take the time to walk around with a turret when someone can sprint over or around me and kill me. Why should I bother with a warthog when anyone can ordinance drop a power weapon or just some plasma grenades? Its becoming too much like COD, can you image vehicles in COD, neither can I. Overpowered Spartans led to overpowered vehicles, like the mantis. Can you imagine the mantis in Halo 3’s Valhalla, nope! Removing ordinance, sprint, and customizations like spawning with plasma grenades will help put Halo back where it needs to be.
They shouldn’t be less powerful, they should be more powerful! I don’t want to play CoD with shields, I want to dual wield a SAW and a Spartan Laser accurately while running at highway speeds! Halo should really be a more realistic portrayal of a 26th century soldier(okay, not exactly because if it was you’d be playing as the lovechild of Motoko Kusanagi, Raiden and Prophet fighting with automatic railguns, autotargeting lasers and self-optomizing drone missile swarms, but close enough).

If I wanted realism, I’d go outside. Good, fun gameplay always takes precedence over realism. What you describe sounds cool, but I can’t imagine it being a fun multiplayer experience.

Gameplay over canon, always.
I remember the Combat Evolved times, when Spartans barely moved. When sticking an enemy or jumping above an incoming Ghost was a great feat. The Halo 2 times, when doing a double kill with the BR or destroying a Warthog was an epic moment. In Halo 3, when Sniping a moving enemy or going to capture the flag in the last seconds. All those moments felt unique and rewarding because you were alone, because it was you, your BR and your skill what made the battlefield. You didn’t feel weak or fragile, you felt like a damn moving killing machine without perks, ordnance or armor abilities to help you.
Now, it’s all about hitting from a long distance and avoid combat sprinting. About using my overpowered Mantis against the fragile Spartans. About sticking a Warthog full of enemies without compromise. About flinching my enemy with “first shot win” one on one battles. That’s not Halo. And let me tell you: Spartans are not overpowered on Halo 4, they feel more like a standard Call of Duty character with a few shields which deplete so damn fast that you don’t realize you had in the very first place.
Why do you people continue to hate so much without even thinking. Removing what you just said would be a Halo 3 1/2 game which wouldn’t be any fun. Just because it bother you that 343 made the game a little closer to realism doesn’t mean it the end. Plus the Mantis is not as powerful as it should be. Each one of those bullets is about as big as a Spartan.
But the problem isn’t the Spartans. Its just the weapons Human weapons. In every Halo game the human weapons has always been OP compared to covenant and forerunner weapons.
Now if you don’t believe me try killing a banshee or warthog with Light Rifle, Carbine, Storm Rifle, or even a Suppresser and watch how long it take compare to a human weapon.

what is the point of playing as a super soldier if you have none if the characteristics which make you one?
just saying

Wow, didn’t know COD had plasma grenades, and super soldiers. What you said in the slightest doesn’t makes me think of COD, all it makes me think of is a unbalanced MP that was made for Casuals.
What?! What are you going on about? The player models have nothing to do with the vehicles. The only thing that’s overpowered is the Loadout, Ordinance, and Perks.
You’re right I can’t think of the Mantis in Halo 3 because it doesn’t exist in Halo 3.
Removing all of what you’ve said is a start, but its far from making Halo returning to what it was. Also I don’t think Halo returning to playing like Halo 3’s Era is necessarily right either. I would like Halo to evolve even in the slightest each time a game joins the series. Finally, not saying that I like what Halo 4 MP did, but I don’t necessarily think everything needs to be scrapped. I do think Ordinance needs to be balanced or removed, Loadouts need to be balanced, and Perks need to be removed entirely.
Ordinance: I think Ordinance needs to be removed or just be balance by only giving the player ammo refills for their primary’s or secondary’s.
Loadout: I think the Loadout’s primary’s are fine, but the Secondary needs to remove PP. Now the Grenades turn the PG needs to be removed because it destroys vehicular combat. The AA’s everything is fine except for PV and AC both of these more or less encourage camping, even though PV= Promethean Vision was said to be created to stop from people hiding around corners, and punish campers it more less turned into the campers ally.
Perks: Now perks all of these need to be removed because I don’t believe a player should possess traits that gives them a automatic advantage over others when fighting. Like the Perks that helps them aim better or gives players the magical ability to survive their vehicle exploding.
All of what I’ve listed isn’t going to balance MP like that, but sure is a step. I really hope that you give a little bit more thought on what you’ve posted other than saying its too much like COD or lets just remove everything and have Halo 3 MP again and have that type of Halo for every future Halo. Which ironically will kinda be like COD considering it will have the same repetitive MP like what COD does.

PFFFT good luck with that, I don’t play MP

For multiplayer…a thousand No’s.

You apparently haven’t seen the huge walls of thought-out text with reasons and logic for why Halo 4/Infinity settings are a bad direction for the franchise.
> Removing what you just said would be a Halo 3 1/2 game which wouldn’t be any fun.
I have to admit that that’s exactly what I was hoping for when I bought Halo 4. I was very disappointed.
> what is the point of playing as a super soldier if you have none if the characteristics which make you one?
Because I don’t want Halo Xbox One to fail as hard as Crysis 3 did.

I would rather have every evidence of the franchise ever existing consumed by a Black hole than have MP ever turn into this.

Well, what I’m describing is a lot like Tribes:Ascend, what I personally find to be a lot more fun than Halo’s multiplayer.
Hm…Overpowered Glass Cannon Spartan-IVs that are as tall as a Spartan-II, can spawn with whatever Grenades they want, get drops whenever they want in multiplayer, and just for good measure look like Power Rangers Samurai…
Well that’s it, whose up for Destiny? I hear they still have a few beta codes left and its the next best thing to getting another Spartan-III game.

well considering I do not play MP crysis 1-2-3 did not fail for me

Yeah, Halo 4’s Spartans were just slightly better Spartan-IIIs… Chief didn’t feel like Chief.
> Now if you don’t believe me try killing a banshee or warthog with Light Rifle, Carbine, Storm Rifle, or even a Suppresser and watch how long it take compare to a human weapon.
Well this use to be something I found interesting about Halo 1. On the one hand you had all this standard human gear, and on the other sci-fi blasters and crystal firing death machines. But the good ol’ fashioned shotgun was a better choice than any of the fancier stuff because apparently the covenant weren’t building with quality in mind. More so quantity, they didn’t even allow you to recharge half the stuff. Once emptied you just threw it away. It helped characterize the covenant mentality without any dialog or exposition. It was good game design.
But I think it’s more of a problem now because what’s been added since CE(concussion rifle, fuel rod, carbine) doesn’t hold to the themes for covenant weaponry setup in the first game. And having the promethean weapons generally lag behind the human fair (binary rifle and incinerator cannon aside) also isn’t building anything into the universe either.
