You should look at your positioning during the game. There’s ways to avoid grenades, even in the tightest of spots. Watch a game or two where you’ve felt like you couldn’t avoid them and ask yourself, what could you have done differently? Taken a different approach. Not run into a small area where your teammates just died. Not hidden in a hallway. Kept moving.
Watch some of the pros and you’ll see how they avoid grenades even in close quarters. I was having the same issue. I felt like my grenades did f**k all but everyone else’s were like being hit by ten 'nades at once! Found out it was poor positioning overall. Now I find myself killed by 'nades much less often.
Ive always disliked grenades in Halo. Most of the time theyre inescapable. You can never tell how they’re going to bounce or where they’ve landed.
Most of their use seems to be in those desperate moments when people are losing in a battle of skill so they desperately drop as many grenades as they can.
Halo needs grenades, but i hate how they are now.
I feel like the amount of grenades and damage is fine. I think there are two issues.
The first is more minor, is that grenade physics is off. They don’t throw as far as they used to. It seems that now different grenade types throw further than others, and don’t go nearly as far or straight as they used to.
The second issue is with the grenade spam. Its an issue because 343i removed friendly fire and player collision. In past games players wouldn’t spam grenades because you could kill your teammates, which could potentially getting you booted from the game. Since there is no friendly fire or player collision, there is no risk doing grenade spam.
