We spawn with 2 nades because the sandbox is balanced around it. The game would function much differently without 2 nades and you wouldnt like it much. You would be complaining that people are able to hide too easily and you cant finish kills etc. There will always be something with you people lol.
Nothing wrong with discussing it. But some changes are more likely to get through to 343i then others.
Hell, I’ve wanted random crits to be disabled for casual in Team Fortress 2 since it was in the beta state in that game and I still occasionally request that they be turned off so that the game would be less casual and frustrating then how they are with them turned on.
They’re balanced in CE because they have to land first for a second before going off. You can’t bank them. In infinite they have the same power and blast radius as CE yet you’re able to bank them off of any surface. They’re overpowered in this game.
I forgot about that, yeah they have to come to a stop b4 they go boom
The problem with greandes in Infinite is that they are thrown like frags in CoD, meaning you can just toss one immediately. But unlike CoD, they act like Halo’s grenades when it comes to detonation. So the frags require a bounce before going kaboom.
Halo CE to Halo 5, the grenades had slower rate-of-throwing. The problem now is that you can toss two grandes in the the spam of time it takes for you to be ready to toss your second grenade in any of the other Halo games.
This is not true though. There is a clear and noticeable delay in throwing grenades in this game.
Just jump and try to throw one. There is a delay.
Granted yes, it is not instant. But the delay is far shorter now in Halo Infinite compared to previous titles. Hence why people spam them.
Grenades were present in all halo game. Problem is not the blast radius. Problem is how inconsistent the grenade are. Sometime the do some slight damage another time its a multikill.
The only grenade I’d question of balance would be the Dynamo Grenades. They honestly seem to be one of the easiest ones to use and probably the better option over all.
Luckily though you never spawn with them and can only hold two at once. They’re pretty much a power weapon all on their own. Able to EMP vehicles, rapidly strip multiple enemies of their shields and kill them ( if two are used, one will just strip shields at best ) and are very toss and forget friendly and forgiving from what I’ve seen. They’re probably the easiest to use of the four types.
I’ve seen too many Diamond ranked players throw grenades into empty hallways or throw them to no effect near the enemy to find this valid. Weather you like it or not it takes skill to consistently throw an effective nade and have it explode at the enemy. These grenades are also on par with the Halo 2/3 grenades, which also had a whole lot of nade spam.
No, we just don’t find something in the game to make excuses about and blame it for being bad at the game.
I think that is a very reasonable critique for the ranked playlist.
People just wanna say whatever they want it’s crazy. You’re gonna tell me that the nukes from H1 were balanced? They could almost 1-shot you, had an immense radius, and you almost always had 4 of them. Now combine that with the tiny map design of H1 (bar BTB) and that everyone would just poop a grenade before dying to get the trade… I like the gameplay of H1, but holy balanced isn’t the word lol
I get killed by careless teammates in ranked matches who toss grenades ‘willy-nilly’ in ‘CFT’, ‘Oddball’ or ‘Strongholds.’ I cannot tell you how many times a long dead enemy has scored a ‘kill’ on me due to several teammates lobbing grenades around like maniacs after my shield has been broken. In one game, I was sitting on and returning our flag, and here come ‘2-3’ grenades from multiple teammates barreling in my direction. I’m just like…
guess I’ll die then?
Only thing I wish would be done is to reduce their bounce when thrown. They feel like those little rubber bouncy balls when thrown.
Yeah, due to the ‘bounce’, I feel like I’m always having to look down at my feet before I throw my grenades for them to ‘land a hit’ whenever an opponent is a moderate distance away. Otherwise they often bounce past whoever I’m aiming at unless I utilize walls to alter their trajectory.
People really don’t use grenades to trade much in CE. The Magnum kills far, far too fast to allow that. You’re going to easily lose 2-3 pistol shots in the time it would take you to get a nade off which is a death sentence if they know what they’re doing. In addition, the CE frag doesn’t start the fuse until it rests. You can only really stick it to an enemy when you’ve got a surface to bounce it flat into for a quick landing; if you try that in the wide open, they’ll charge the nade easily.
As strong as they are, they’re about necessary for balance in CE. 2v2 CE can be very set-up oriented at times. A good player positioned at top green on Damnation with a sniper can effectively cut the portal off completely and allow their partner to run rampant, but 4 well-placed frags from across the map in orange room can disrupt this player and allow the disadvantaged team a key opportunity to push for top control. Chill Out is very similar; my CE partner and I had a shotty room set-up with the Rocket Launcher that was almost completely unbreakable, and would practically assure that we would get the OS on the following cycle and continue to pile up our advantage. But a clever player could go to the dark hall spawn, dump their 4 frags down OS hall into shotty, dump 4 more frags from the spawn in dark, then an additional 4 frags once OS spawned for a total of 12 frags from one player to counter the set-up at least enough to effectively contest the OS.
As long as ive been playing Halo online ive been complaining about the grenades.
They shouldnt do so much damage. They should have such a huge blast radius. They shouldnt be used as a primary weapon.
They should be a tactical weapon. Not a crap your pants when youre about to lose weapon.
They are balanced. They have to land for a full second first before exploding, and plasma grenades take longer. And you can’t bank them off surfaces to explode in mid air. If they didn’t behave like this then you wouldn’t be able to grenade weapons and power ups to you, and the power ups themselves would be overpowered. Everything in CE is balanced except for the needler.
Lol you think the Grenada are over powered? HAHAHA PLEASE DON’T PLAY HALO 1. The Grenades in this game are weak. You can’t kill a full shield with grenades. Even the rocket launcher is weak.
