When Reach is passed into 343’s hands, there are many things I hope get changed. However, I feel that Invasion is almost unbearable as it is, due to a combination of several bad mechanics:
Attackers spawn forever away from the objective. ___Attackers spend 3/4 of the game just getting to the objective. ___The only way to have a chance capturing the objective is to have a player sit back for spawning (not fun).
Defenders spawn directly behind the objective. ___Even if the attackers wipe out the entire defending team, they will spawn in just a few seconds right behind the objective.
There is a 7 second hold timer in territories. ___Pair this with point #1 and #2 and capturing a territory is nearly impossible against a decent team. ___When a defender is in the territory, it cannot be captured, making it even harder.
Weapon starts favor Spartans in first phase ___Magnum beats Plasma Pistol ___AR beats Plasma Repeater ___AR beats Neelder
Last phase loadouts are not even (specifically Shotgun/Armor Lock). ___The core always spawns in Close Quarters, making the core room impenetrable to a team camping with shotgun/armor lock ___Elites’ sword loadout is not equal to the Spartans’ shotgun loadout
There are several different fixes for these. Fixing any one of these, or a combination of several, should fix the entire experience.
Move up attacker spawns or apply “Bro Slayer” settings, where you can spawn on any teammate
Move back defender spawns slightly.
Remove the hold timer and/or add contested scoring.
In Phase 1, for Spartans have DMR/Magnum/Sprint & AR/Magnum/Hologram. For Elites have Needle Rifle/Plasma Pistol/Evade & Needler/Plasma Repeater/Active Camo.
Totally remove the Shotgun and Sword loadouts in Phase 3. Place them on the map.
Lastly, I really hope to see more maps for Invasion in the future. There are only 3, and one of which hardly shows because it’s DLC. Thanks for reading. Please leave feedback and your own ideas.
Things I want fixed:-3rd phase AL/shotgun/pistol should be hologram/shotgun/AR-3rd phase hologram/GL/AR should be AL/GL/AR-3rd phase AC/CR/PP should be AC/CR/needler-3rd phase jetpack/PR/PP should be jetpack/PR/needler-When defenders use armor lock in the territory they shouldn’t be able to capture it and be able to defend it (the timer still goes down)-Give defenders in spire a sword in 2nd phase-Give attackers in boneyard a sword, remove a focus rifle (there are 2)-Banshee in spire should have a better spawn point so spartans can’t take it

I know Bungie is supposed to be letting go of the reigns any day now, so I thought it may be a good idea to bring this here. I would like to see some user created Invasion maps added to the playlist; moreover, there just aren’t enough maps in that play list to stay in there for any decent amount of time. Can anyone else feel me on this? I mean I know we have Break Point, but it never pops up because of the broken matchmaking system. Speaking of…
Can we increase the number of players in Premium Battle? Whats the point in having a larger Premium play list if it only adds like two more players? I think it should reflect big team’s numbers a bit more…I think it also needs forged maps as well…so that way you get the WHOLE Reach experience in one place…because we paid for it ^^.
I feel like there’s a lack of invasion maps. And In an attempt to make it seem like a better playlist you have the horrid gametypes like Elite Skirmish thrown in. I want to play invasion, not “Slayer with weapon classes”.
I wish there’d be more invasion maps, and if not just make the invasion playlist play invasion.
In Halo 4 I hope that this gametype is included and built upon. It has so much potential.
I think the main problem is the spawning of the attacker team. Not only do they spawn far away from the objective, but sometimes it’s near impossible to spawn on your teammate. Waiting to spawn in 0 seconds is a pain lol, usually that’s when either your teammate dies or something happens to further delay your respawn time. Eventually you will give up and switch your spawn back to the original and have to do all the walking over again.
I strongly agree with being able to spawn on more than one player. I think it’d work fine 8v8 and 2 squads of 4 per team. This way you’d have a better chance of spawning quicker and in a more efficient place, but it wouldn’t be too easy like spawning on any teammate would cause.
My problem, is in invasion spire where the Elites have the high ground with needle rifle. On every invasion map beside that one, every team have the same amount of precision weapon. In invasion spire there isn’t, only elites have them with can wreck chaos on the spartan. They should add at lest 2 DMR for the spartan team, this is why they should.
1.Elites are stonger than spartan. 2. They have the high ground. 3. There no balance at all. If a good team can camp up there with needle rifle, they have the place lock down.
Also there this gitch in Invasion bonyard, where an Elite can hide underneatrh the platform, right by Bravo I think. Their teammate can spwan on top of the platform to where bravo is and be in it.
invasion CAN be really fun though. The First phase is meant to be easy, as to get the game moving. The problem I have with invasion are the spawns. Spire has got to be the mose unfair, as the defending team always spawns near their access points in the second phase. The sniper spawning in the Second Phase by the ridge is unfair aswell as it gives the spartan team too good of a vantage point for sniping.
I do like the core being up at the top though. It gives gome really intresting gameplay.

I’ve been wondering about this…why the heck are all the Spartans one color? They should all just keep their normal armor color…it should be obvious what to shoot & what not to shoot…covies look a bit diffrent in my opinion…
343 REALLY need to do something about the spawns on Boneyard and Spire in the first phase of invasion when they take over Reach. The spawns are so poorly designed that if someone rage quits, a good team can easily spawn kill the elites on boneyard or spartans on spire and give them no hope of getting out or completing the objective.
This has been an issue since the Beta. Unfortunately there is no way to keep players from quitting, but I think there should be some way of being able to change our ability to choose which of the 3 starting positions to start from. I’d also love to have 2 teams of 3 as opposed to battle bros. That way if one player quits, it doesn’t strand one player to always have to respawn at start.
It’s the one reason why I stopped playing Invasion, even though it’s my favorite Matchmaking game type.
I also understand map control, but being able to spawn rape another player doesn’t do anything but boost k/d ratios. That doesn’t prove you’re good player. It proves that you can take advantage of crappy system.
I think 6v6 is perfect as it is. The only thing that needs to be changed WRT to spawning is the timer. If it says zero, spawn me. And squadmate spawning needs to be more like BF. It takes forever to spawn on a team mate. Dont make me wait for another 5-7 seconds when the countdown timer is already at zero.
I do agree that it needs more maps though. At least two more. The DLC map almost never comes up in the playlist. I hope at least one of the Halo CEA maps is a good invasion map. Would love it if there were two of them in there.

I actually agree with this. It’s supposed to be a group of Spartans (who personalize their armors if we are to believe the copious amounts of written & visual canon they have created) battling a group of Elites. Actually, if you wanted to make it “realistic” I think you have to have the Elites forced to an armor color and the Spartans colorful. Since, everyone gets to be the Spartans that shouldn’t be THAT big a deal. But I have no idea if they can force a single color on only one team in MM.

I have never played breakpoint invasion in the actual invasion playlist. I have actualy played invasion twice when you could spawn on any one on your team and on both occasions they only went for one objective.
