Overgrowth is a terrible map and is overused

So for the last 6 games of slayer, I have only played on overgrowth. Why is this map the only thing I can find in team slayer? The amount of power weapons on this map make it un-playable. What have you done to ruin a good playlist?

Two words: CQC and Explosions.

The map is a total sword and grenade fest.

Here’s my take to make it playable: One grenade per spawn (because its just a total fustercluck with each team encounter). Replace sword spawn with shotgun. Replace shotgun spawn with SMG.

It’ll still be small, but it will also require more tactics than “run n slash”.

I completely agree with the grenade thing. Having two right of the spawn has actually ruined the gun play for me. Too many people use grenades as a crutch and staple in the gun game and it takes away from just being better, or worse, of a shooter than them. One lucky grenade hit and a few easy bullets and some scrub can beat you with zero skill required.

No it doesn’t, its a CQC map, grab the railgun and you can dominate anyone using the sword or shotgun
Lockout/gaurdian were the same, narrow corridors, sword/shotgun/hammer and many many grenades being spammed, yet they still gets considered one of the best halo maps… logic?
there are maps with more power weapons than overgrowth btw

My only change would be, change the camo spawn to the bottom mid of the map where the railgun spawns and move the railgun elsewhere, maybe on that clamber spot where you can jump through the window

The biggest issue with the map is the power weapons, I think the energy sword or shotgun should be replaced by the SAW and maybe replace the sword with an SMG. The SAW still isn’t on any arena/breakout maps. Its very strange, and I think a SAW with 1 or two clips max would fit into this map nicely. But the camo combined with a shotgun and sword is way too weird for this map.

The main issue I have with it is that it’s overplayed. I wasn’t joking when I mentioned I got this map 6 times in a row in slayer. Even in doubles, which isn’t that bad 2v2, I get the map more than any other map.

Well… have you tried getting your team to control the power weapons? Halo 5 isn’t like the, other games, slayer is literally defined by the power weapons… so… just control them? It’s my favorite map so far because there isn’t too much open space and I can think tactically. “Is he around this corner or on the other side of the map? Hmm let me figure it out by risking my flank and jumping through this window”

I could say the same thing for Regret… I don’t mind the map geometry I don’t think, but the Fuel-Rod Cannon really detracts from the overall experience IMO.

But it could use some reduce weighting in the map rotation though, seems like there are times when I play it 2-3 times in a row, while there are times when I don’t even get to play certain maps during a play-session. I will play Regret several times though every time I play the game though… never fails.

Lockout and Guardian did have a lot of close quarters and tight passages, but they also had very long sightlines and the top layers of the maps were wide open to long-range combat, hence both maps having Sniper Rifles. Also, they didn’t feature sprint and spartan charge (which I don’t hate, they just require a different type of map to accommodate them), as Overgrowth does. Overgrowth, unlike Lockout and Guardian, has no cross-map sightlines, and all the open spaces are very relatively small. Combine that with the much faster movement speed, and CQC power weapons become just that much more dominating.

I’m not a fan either

4 - 5 days I dont see this map , the rotation maps is soooo ridiculus . yesterday and today i played only THE RIG

Left all day to hang out with family, figured I’d try again when I got home. Have now played 2 games of slayer both on overgrowth…this needs to be fixed asap!!!

There’s a significant amount of people who think Lockout was terrible. Objectively speaking, it’s prone to long stalemates and difficult pushes.

Even still, as others have pointed out, both those maps had long sightlines, and you couldn’t just sprint up to someone’s face with the Sword, or zoom in and get double lunge distance.

Guardian didn’t even have a Sword, it had the Hammer, which is even easier to stay away from.

If you read the update (you didn’t did you, for shame) then you would know they turned up Overgrowth on the rotation so it would be played more. This was done on purpose so everyone would get a chance to play it.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say no one wants to play 1 map 8 times in a row

Don’t exaggerate, you played it 5 games in a row…not 8.

But 7 times out of 10 is def way too much. Bright side, you ought to know that map really well by now.
