Over YONDER

I can’t stand this phrase. You hear it all the time and it’s ridiculous.

I’d let it slide if it was only the ‘southern accent’ voice that said it, but I’ve heard it from at least 3 other voices.

“Over YONDER

Was “Target, front!” or “Tango, 12 o’clock!” not an option?

It’s far more annoying to me than the jittery movement in the weapon drills, and is the only thing I hate in Infinite right now lol

Other than that, I am really enjoying Infinite! I love how all the weapons are capable in their own way, and that the pistol functions at a range less valued than the BR, but you can still totally use it to trip up an enemy with a ranged weapon to close the gap and finish them! Good job, 343i! Best multiplayer experience so far, and we’ve only barely scraped the tip of this iceberg!

Please “Over yonder” this has to stop… This simply does not belong in Halo I think if that is left in it will become a laughing stock!!!
Also i do think the southhern accents are quite ridiculous Sorry but it does fit in the Halo lore at all

Yeah “over yonder” doesn’t really fit into that military scifi setting thingy.

I was actually quite puzzled what the guy wants to tell me, like some enemy in that general direction, you don’t say???

The most hilarious call-out had to be in cod 5. German soldier in Berlin yelling “there near the destroyed wall/building”. Ah you mean everywhere, thanks.

“Over Yonder” is exactly the kind of directions I give in games. I don’t expect the military grade Spartans to say such broad terms though lol.

Isn’t this all actually supposed to be muted when you deactivate Spartan chatter? Doesn’t seem to help.
On topic I completely agree and just sounds silly, military communication is based on standardisation and not slang. I see in the waypoint app that you can pick from like 12 voices so I’m curious what direction they are going with this.

Have you not heard Sgt. Stacker? He has a southern accent, plus, I don’t see why a southern accent doesn’t fit Halo lore. But “over yonder” needs to be changed for sure.

So, in the real world, recruits totally start copying the way their instructors talk. (I was in the Army, I saw it happen, I did it too and it still affects the way I talk today.)
So it could be an inside joke of our Spartans mimicking their instructor or even mocking a fellow recruit.

Still, I don’t want to hear it because I hate it now lol

This, it is so daft

The spartan dialogue where the guys says “Oh so satisfying!” reminds me of those people on Reddit obsessed with Keanu Reeves.

Yeah i hate cheesy/cringe dialogue in Halo. Dont even get me started with odst.

Sun of a gun! Wheres the fight at!?..says the orbital drop shock trooper

The ‘disable spartan chatter’ option doesn’t seem to do anything…

Honestly, I wish I could disable the AI and the Spartan chatter, They’re both very cheesy sounding imo

Voice lines are mostly out of place, they are all pretty over the top. The variety in lines and actors is great, but pretty unrealistic to the franchise.

The worst offender imo is “One shot, many kills” or something to that effect. I cringe everytime I hear it.

It seems like they’re trying a little too hard to make these spartans quirky. It definitely feels more like its gamers in a virtual reality rather than actual well trained super soldiers in a simulation.

OMG, I haven’t heard “over yonder” yet in game but the Cali brah has felt a little out of place as well. Spartans are taken from their homes and families as kids right? Seems like a 2 year old wouldn’t quite have a grasp on those phrases yet.

Spartan IVs are adult volunteers.

Ugh. I guess it works then…doesn’t mean we have to like it.

About as fitting as having a spartan say “Thar she blows”
if these were rare IWHBYD dialogues, that’d be fine. Funny stuff like that, when it’s rare, is cool with me

Take a look over yonder at some different lines, 343i.

What does it even mean?
