What’s the go with the severe over-simplification of medals?
Most importantly, no snipe (head shot) medal? Come on, that showed if someone was actually accurate with a sniper.
Also the spree medals have been seriously nerfed or just dropped all together. I think we can all agree that getting a splatter spree was extremely satisfying.
I totally agree. I can’t believe they changed the Sniper Medal back to any kill with the sniper. One of the few things Reach did better than H4 was award it only for headshots.
Plus the medals have been so oversimplified, you get them for everything. Why in hell is there a medal FOR A KILL?! Just a frickin kill! The description actually says, “Kill: Generic Kill.” Why is this a medal?! Might as well award medals for reloading!
On a side note, I’m also disappointed that the combat text in game uses “killed” for everything. “You stuck RaNdoM Gam3RtAG” or “You sniped n00b117” has been removed. 
Because 343i is made up of casuals who don’t understand why it doesn’t make sense to reward players for every little thing they do.
I can’t even tell most medals apart from each other, not to mention like 100 pop up every 5 seconds.
Holy crap I could not agree with you guys more. If I get an overkill I want that thing to be loud and conspicuous, not buried beneath 57 other lame medals. And in the biggest affront of all, 343 somehow saw fit to do away with the PERFECTION medal!!! I managed to get one yesterday and all it gave me was a stupid commendation! The attainment of perfections alone kept me coming back to Halo 3 for months longer than I otherwise should have. Ending the game and then seeing a perfection in the game’s top medal was an awesome moment. Now unless you dig down you really don’t even know the cool stuff everyone did. Huge fail 343.

Yup. It used to be at the end of a game I could check out a carnage report and quickly see 1 Double Kill, 1 Stick, 2 Beatdowns, 1 Assassination, 1 Splatter, etc., and see how well other players and I did.
Now it’s 35 medals for 14 different things, half of which are just typical gameplay. There’s no need to give a medal for every grenade kill, or things like the “Comeback Kill” medal – Achieve a kill after dying 3 times in a row. Congrats! You stopped sucking and got a kill! Here, have a medal. It’s silly.
They refer to this phenomenon in Elementary schools across the US as “participation awards” everyone gets them!! We wouldn’t anyone to feel left out!

I might not agree with getting a medal for a generic kill, or sniper headshot being brought back to any sniper kill, or most medals (perfection for instance) removed entirely, but come on.
There are so many insulting words you could have said, so many different words you could have used to describe 343i and you used “casual.”

OT: Op, I agree with you. I find it annoying that they’ve removed a lot of the medals (and one of the most sattisfying “Perfection”) and made the others so small that its hard to tell what they are.

I completely disagree I think the medals are fine and you need to just sit back and enjoy the game.
No perfection medal!? I hadn’t even realised yet but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. That seriously sucks, nothing else matched the intense atmosphere when you realised you had over 15 kills, no deaths and only a few minutes to go

That’s right. You don’t get a medal for sticking an enemy with a plasma grenade. (well you do, but it’s just a grenade kill medal) I don’t see how 343i left that one out, launching a plasma into a guys face for the stick is fundamental Halo.
Agreed, I don’t really like the new medals.
But hey, at least the gameplay is awesome
Yea it’s pretty amazing how they left the sticky medal out. That has been something that I take pride in doing since halo 1. Really hope something is done.
New medals suck. Everyone knows it.

I got a perfection first game and was shocked the perfection medal was removed… and now we have a medal for a generic kill. It’s common to get over 50 medals per game. I agree this is a little over kill. Makes them seem a lot less special.
I really thought i was the only one who finds the medals the most annoying part of the game I love the game but please if a patch to fix is possible i would really appreciate it.
I love this game so far, and i hate to say it but the medals do need an overhaul. theyre not as satisfying as they were in Reach, sticking people used to be a fundemantal part of my playstyle, like i would go out of my way to stick people. but now that its a general plasma grenade kill medal instead of a sticky kill medal that part of my style has gone to the wayside. i dont mind the redesign thats great make it your own. but i loved reaches medal system. sprees for almost everything, sniper HS medal, the needler explosion one, ect.
What if this whole game is just a joke and on April 1st they are going to unlock the other half of the disc that’s been hidden this whole time and all of the laggy menu’s, insignificant medals, poor forge pallet, lack of game modes, buggy commendations, unclear service record system and lack of a legitimate rank all become fixed and flawless.

On a positive note…Campaign had some kick butt moments and IMO spartan ops is the best thing since forge in h3, if they do it right.
They need those medals…they took out sniper headshot medal and sticks. That was pretty stupid and i got a medal for flying high throught the air with another person on a mongoose and they decided to take out those medals…NICE??
But the game is awesome for sure.
